This is an extremely well-crafted movie: the cinematography, the soundtrack, the acting, and the costumes are all A+. The story in the unknown world of dress making is interesting. But I have to call out how enjoyable Daniel Day-Lewis' fits are - they absolutely make me laugh. "Did you bring a gun?"

Such a good movie. All the western tropes but with examinations of racism and revenge. John Ford's direction in Monument Valley, in Technicolor, puts it over the top.

The dialogue is clever and snappy, the leads are dynamite, and the direction is top notch. "Would you get off your scooter to give me a ticket?" Entertaining from beginning to end, straight down the line.

Anora shows that sex workers are people too. I was wondering where this movie was going to go, and as soon as I found myself laughing a lot, I realized why the setup of this particular central character was so key. We see who she is, the transactional nature of her world, the way she interacts with true love and dreams from arm's length, and we understand why she is the way she is, and why you don...

On the first viewing of this movie, I gave it a 3 1/2 star rating - I thought the visuals were incredible, but the story was a bit slow, busying itself with the setup of different factions and characters. After watching Dune 2, I bump this to a 4 star movie, and give Dune 2 five stars. Give them a chance, it's terrific stuff. And by the way, the 4k is amazing.

Ah, now I get it. This is the Dune where the rubber hits the road. The complexity of the Dune world, with all of the players, the history, and even the mysticism, was never going to be a good singular two-hour movie (although I haven't seen David Lynch's 1984 film). So the first film was the setup for the next chapter. And did it ever deliver - Dune: Part Two has involving storyline, astounding s...

I had problems with the movie, with casting, special effects, and screenplay. Kiefer Sutherland seemed to be aping Peter Lorre, and William Hurt in particular seemed miscast - in a world of aliens, as a character who is supposed to be an anchor of humanity, he was the coldest. He's William Hurt - he can't help it. The special effects had that silly "stretchy" digital effect that looked more at hom...
