Description
Disc 1 (of the set's two 4K UHD discs) contains the Director's Cut of the film in 4K with Dolby Vision and HDR10, an introduction by Alex Proyas, five audio commentaries (Alex Proyas, 2025; film critics Craig Anderson, Bruce Isaacs and Herschel Isaacs, 2025; Alex Proyas, 2008; screenwriters Lem Dobbs and David S. Goyer, 2008; and film critic Roger Ebert), the 'Return to Dark City' documentary, the visual essays 'I'm as Much in the Dark as You Are' and 'Rats in a Maze', and 'Design & Storyboards'. John Murdoch wakes up in a hotel bathtub in a city of perpetual night, with no memory and a murdered woman on the floor beside him. A phone call from Dr. Schreber sends him running — from the police, who think he's a serial killer, and from the Strangers, pale figures who stop time at midnight to rearrange the city and swap its residents' memories. As Murdoch discovers he alone shares the Strangers' power to reshape reality, he fights to uncover who he really is and what the city actually hides.

Wow, what a freaky movie. Kind of had a matrix-y, Dick Tracy feel. It's hard not to compare to other movies, but there is definitely some of the trademarks of other movies in this. Loved the cinematography, it was beautiful, very film-noir in look. I love Rufus Sewell, everything he is in turns out really cool. Kiefer Sutherland also stars in this. Enjoy..

I had problems with the movie, with casting, special effects, and screenplay. Kiefer Sutherland seemed to be aping Peter Lorre, and William Hurt in particular seemed miscast - in a world of aliens, as a character who is supposed to be an anchor of humanity, he was the coldest. He's William Hurt - he can't help it. The special effects had that silly "stretchy" digital effect that looked more at home in a Doritos commercial than a movie. The screenplay fell into noir stereotype at times and was a ...
