Description

Lo Wei, the director who launched Bruce Lee internationally with The Big Boss and Fist of Fury, casts Jimmy Wang Yu as the Tattooed Dragon, a righteous martial artist who makes a habit of protecting the helpless. Wounded in a fight, he is taken in by a farmer and the farmer's sweetheart, then steps in when a gangster and his crew target their village, opening a casino meant to make the locals gamble away everything so the gang can seize the land's rich resources. Made as Wang Yu moved from Shaw Brothers to Golden Harvest, it is a star showcase built around its hero's stand against organised crime.

Ann Hui's typically assured direction is strong on humour, water imagery and Alfred Hitchcock references. --Daniel O'Brien, Spooky Encounters: A Gwailo’s Guide to Hong Kong Horror A breathtakingly shot film, filled to the brim with striking imagery. --Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, Vulture A polished, mature genre-bending horror from Ann Hui. The film doesn't go for cheap thrills, and instead focuses on the characters' obsessions and fantasies... Hui comes back to what made her so influential. --Ross Chen, LoveHKFilm.com Top Similar From the Brand Reviews Visible Secret
