Description

Disc 1 (the 4K UHD disc) contains the film presented in HDR, plus two audio commentaries: one with director Sean Baker, producer Alex Coco, producer Samantha Quan, and cinematographer Drew Daniels, and one with Baker and actors Yura Borisov, Mark Eydelshteyn, Karren Karagulian, Mikey Madison, and Vache Tovmasyan. Sean Baker, long known for films about Americans hustling at the edges of the economy, tells a twisted Cinderella story that plays as a fast-moving neorealist screwball comedy with a genuinely aching heart. Mikey Madison stars as Anora, a quick-witted, foulmouthed Brooklyn stripper and sex worker who impulsively marries Ivan, the reckless son of a Russian oligarch (Mark Eydelshteyn). Their whirlwind romance turns into a fractured fairy tale — with Karren Karagulian, Yura Borisov, and Vache Tovmasyan among the ensemble — that lays bare the harsh realities of class. The film won the Palme d'Or at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

Description

Levon, a Ghanaian immigrant hustling counterfeit goods on the streets of New York, has his life upended when an ex-girlfriend leaves him with a baby she says is his. Forced into reluctant fatherhood, he leans on Lucky, the Armenian-Turkish wholesaler who employs him, and the two men form an unlikely bond. Shot in a raw vérité style, the film finds tenderness inside the city's informal economy and the fragile promise of the American dream.

Description

It's Christmas Eve in Tinseltown and Sin-Dee (newcomer Kitana Kiki Rodriguez) is back on the block. Upon hearing that her pimp boyfriend (James Ransone, STARLET, "Generation Kill") hasn't been faithful during the 28 days she was locked up, the working girl and her best friend, Alexandra (newcomer Mya Taylor), embark on a mission to get to the bottom of the scandalous rumor. Their rip-roaring odyssey leads them through various subcultures of Los Angeles, including an Armenian family dealing with their own repercussions of infidelity. Director Sean Baker's prior films (STARLET, PRINCE OF BROADWAY) brought rich texture and intimate detail to worlds seldom seen on film. TANGERINE follows suit, bursting off the screen with energy and style. A decidedly modern Christmas tale told on the streets of L.A., TANGERINE defies expectation at every turn.
