Product Description THE TRUE STORY OF A BOY… A GIRL… AND THE MOVIE THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING. During the spring of 1977, sci-fi obsessed teenager Pat Johnson (John Francis Daley, Game Night, “Freaks and Geeks”) finds himself torn between making 8mm sequels to his favorite movies and pursuing the girl of his dreams, Linda (Emmi Chen, Normal). Desperate to help her son escape his likely future in Wadsworth, Illinois, (population 750), his mother Janet (Colleen Camp, Wayne’s World) cold-calls the editor of ‘American Cinematographer’ magazine and Pat soon finds himself on “the ultimate trip” to Hollywood, becoming the very first outsider to see the film that would change him (and movies) forever… Star Wars. But when Pat returns to his hometown existence, he struggles to choose between chasing a seemingly impossible dream and accepting the comforting familiarity of home. Produced by Gary Kurtz (Star Wars: A New Hope, American Graffiti), Fred Roos (The Godfather Part II, St. Vincent) and Leigh Jones (Here Alone) and written & directed by Patrick Read Johnson (Dragonheart, Angus), this heartfelt true story features an incredible supporting cast that includes Austin Pendleton (My Cousin Vinny) and Neil Flynn (Mean Girls) along with an original score by David E. Russo (“Gotham”, Sin City) with additional themes and songs by legendary rock musician Alan Parsons ("The Alan Parsons Project"). SPECIAL FEATURES: Audio Commentary with writer/director Patrick Read Johnson, moderated by Seth Gaven, founder of the A.V. Review "5-25-77" is his [Patrick Read Johnson’s] loosely autobiographical film about the impact of "Star Wars" on his own life as a teenage geek in love with the movies… Johnson has made one of the most loving odes to geekdom ever. It is simply fantastic. --Jim Emerson, Roger Ebert.com Daley’s tremendously appealing and charming turn as the affable protagonist perpetuates the pleasantly easygoing vibe… Johnson delivers an impressively enthralling stretch detailing Pat’s trip to Hollywood… a heartfelt drama. --Real Film Reviews / realfilm.com

Description
Late For Dinner is a charming, critically acclaimed old-fashioned romantic comedy that leaps through time into your heart. In the innocent days of 1962, Willie (Brian Wimmer, TV's China Beach) marries Joy (Marcia Gay Harden, Pollock), the girl of his dreams. But the young lovers' hopes are shattered when a sleazy land developer (Peter Gallagher, The Idolmaker) frames Willie and his best friend Frank (Peter Berg, The Last Seduction). On the run from a crime they didn't commit, the two buddies end up caught in the biggest chill ever: guinea pigs in a dangerous cryonics experiment. Frozen Alive! And they don't thaw out until 1991! Willie and Frank haven't aged a day but everything has changed. Even Willie's only love, who's now in her fifties. But if love does indeed conquer all, Willie and Joy will have the chance to share their once-in-a-lifetime romance - twice. The second and final film directed by writer W.D. Richter, the first was cult classic, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension.
