Animation fans should love this one. In particular, if you liked any other Mamoru Hosoda films this should not disappoint. A touching story about loss and parenting that could only be done through the lens of animation. Had me from the get go.

Thought this was pretty solid. Not amazing, but solid. All three of the primary actors did a fantastic job, with Jesse Plemons turning in his best performance to date. I'll admit that I kind of had the ending figured out but it was still fun. Video quality was great. Did not see the standard blu ray to compare it.

This was an interesting take on the Dracula lore that we know so well. Spoiler alert: It shares very little of the common romantic thread that you see in a lot of vampire media. To quote Skarsgard's character in this film "I am an appetite, nothing more". His character has more depth than that quote would imply but it's certainly closer to that quote than Gary Oldman's Dracula for example. Y...

This is still one of the scariest horror movies of all time even though it was late in the game for good horror movies. Don't want to spoil for anyone who hasn't seen it but the creepiest parts aren't to do with pets of course. Very solid picture quality upgrade from the blu ray.

Robin Williams steals the show and the very character of Popeye. No one could have come close to doing the cartoon character so much justice while adding extra depth. Speaking of the cartoon, it's been a minute since I watched the blu ray and I almost forgot how far this movie went to be faithful and cartoonish. Great work. Couple good musical numbers. It is a musical of course. Video qualit...

This is a great classic romantic dramedy. It can be easy to forget how strong an actress Julia Roberts is (Watch Steel Magnolias) but even in a movie like this she shines. It's funny and heartfelt and I love me some good British accents. Video quality is top notch. A great transfer.

There was a lot of hype around this movie. Critics and viewers gave this high marks. I'd give it 3.5 out of 5. It's pretty good, but not great. If you liked the Martian, this is even better if you ask me. I didn't love the result of the process they used in the video production here. From what I understand, they filmed this digitally and then transferred each digital frame to real film. It...

For anyone who is a huge Wes Anderson fan, this one is kind of an obligatory watch. Is it my favorite? Not by a long shot but it's worth a watch and it's always cool to see where a director like Wes started. It certainly has the least of the, what we now know as, Wes Anderson novelty feel that was truly born in Rushmore (my favorite Wes film). The UHD transfer is a solid upgrade to the blu r...

This was one of just a few of my favorite movies that had yet to receive the UHD treatment. There have been some negative reviews of this transfer and some complaints have legitimacy but I'd still say that this is a good upgrade from the standard blu ray. One of the main complaints people have about this transfer is that there is too much color in the vampire's skin. I tend to agree with that...

The movie is a modern classic. I'll admit it's a little tougher to enjoy after knowing the ending but it's still great to revisit once in a while. There was controversy over this 4k transfer because they did a lot of digital touch ups on actors faces and things like that. I don't like any of that here, but I'd still say the overall picture quality is significantly better than the standard blu r...
