Description

A brutal masterpiece of tension and terror (Heather Wixson, Daily Dead), this pure-pulp thrill ride jumps between past and present as it pieces together the puzzle of a shocking crime. It's 1978 and a bank robbery gone wrong forces two criminals to take a hostage—the young-but-resilient Vivian (The Last Exorcism's Ashley Bell)—as they go on the run. But things go from bad to off-the-rails berserk when Vivian and her captors wind up in the crosshairs of a deranged ex-military sniper (Pat Healy, Cheap Thrills, Starry Eyes), who ensnares them in his deadly game of cat and mouse. Rising horror auteur Mickey Keating (Pod, Darling) directs this gritty, grisly homage to the glory days of grindhouse cinema.

Description

A scheming couple put a struggling family man and his old friend through a series of twisted dares over the course of an evening at a bar. A razor-sharp blend of thriller and the blackest of comedies, Cheap Thrills takes an ordinary night out among friends and turns it into a cruel, twisted game of survival. Fired from his job and facing eviction, this might be the worst night of Craig's life. While drowning his sorrows in a bar, he runs into Vince, a childhood friend he hasn't seen in years. Their reunion takes an unexpected turn when they're approached by Colin and Violet, an eccentric and wealthy couple with a strange but simple offer: complete a few dares for cash. Sounds like an easy payday... at first. As the stakes rise and the dares become ever more twisted, Craig and Vince are pushed to their physical and moral limits in a warped contest where only one can come out on top. Starring Pat Healy and Sara Paxton from The Innkeepers alongside Ethan Embry (Vacancy) and David Koechner (Krampus), and marking the audacious debut of director E.L. Katz, Cheap Thrills is a tense and darkly hilarious look at the road from desperation, to recklessness, to savagery. She quits the theater to travel with her concert-pianist husband. Stephen (Colin Clive), enraging Gogol. But when Stephen's hands are crushed in a train accident, Yvonne turns to Gogol as a last resort. Motivated by sadistic intentions, Gogol secretly replaces Stephen's hands with those of a guillotined murderer, hoping that the operation will send Yvonne rushing into his arms as the murderer's hands take on a life of their own. *This listing is for the standard edition version and does NOT come with a limited edition slipcase!* Vinegar Syndrome specializes in the masterful restoration and distribution of cult, horror, and erotic films from the 1960s-90s. Lillian and Geoffrey (stage actors Miriam Healy-Louie and Stephen Ramsey) are a seemingly happy couple who relocate to the country so that Geoffrey can focus better on his work, which Lillian knows little about. As she begins to investigate what Geoffrey spends his days doing in their shed, she discovers a trail of medical experiments that she can’t explain. Eventually, their relationship begins to unravel, with both parties consumed by madness. Larry Fessenden’s first feature-length film to be shot on film, NO TELLING, reimagines Mary Shelley’s immortal Frankenstein tale as an upstate chamber drama that gives way to something much more sinister. A prescient parable about man’s relationship with nature and the darkness inherent in us all, making it a potent precursor for the films that would follow in Fessenden’s career. Shot on location in upstate New York, entirely on Super 16mm film, NO TELLING is an essential entry in the canon of American independent horror cinema of the 1990s, now lovingly restored in 4K by Vinegar Syndrome in a director-approved presentation from its uncut original film elements.
