In this grisly reinterpretation of Cinderella, a young maiden submits to a series of increasingly brutal cosmetic extremes to win the prince's love. THE NORTH AMERICAN DISC PREMIERE WITH 6+ HOURS OF SPECIAL FEATURES It redefined both fairy tales and body horror, stunned audiences at Sundance, was nominated for an Oscar® and remains a "cinematically exhilarating" (Vulture), "playfully grotesque" (Indiewire) and "undeniably vicious piece of entertainment" (RogerEbert.com). Now you can experience the "jaw-dropping debut" (Paste Magazine) by writer/director Emilie Blichfeldt on physical media for the first time ever in North America: In this grisly reinterpretation of Cinderella, a young maiden - an unforgettable performance by Lea Myren - will submit to a series of increasingly brutal cosmetic extremes to win the love of a less-than-charming prince. But in a kingdom of cruelty where beauty is pain, what is the ultimate human cost of 'happily ever after'? "Imagine Cinderella meets SUSPIRIA meets Cronenberg," says Elements of Madness. "THE UGLY STEPSISTER is surreal, brilliant, masterfully crafted and one of the best horror movies of the year."
