Description

Disc 1 (the 4K UHD disc) contains The 400 Blows and the short Antoine and Colette in 4K with Dolby Vision, and both audio commentaries for The 400 Blows (by film scholar Brian Stonehill and by Truffaut's lifelong friend Robert Lachenay). François Truffaut's debut feature draws directly on his own unhappy childhood. Seen through the eyes of Antoine Doinel (Jean-Pierre Léaud), Truffaut's on-screen alter ego, The 400 Blows follows a misunderstood Paris schoolboy whose troubles at home and in the classroom spiral toward delinquency. The film launched Truffaut as a leading voice of the French New Wave. Also on this disc is his short Antoine and Colette, made for the 1962 anthology film Love at Twenty.
