Aspect Ratio: 1.78:1 Matthew Modine (ANY GIVEN SUNDAY) stars as Joe Slovak, a brilliant first-year med student whose casual, nonconforming approach to life gets tested when he enrolls in gross anatomy, the toughest course in med school. Joe's freewheeling, independent style creates funny moments in the classroom, but puts him at odds with his demanding professor (Christina Lahti, HIDEAWAY), who questions whether her class rebel has what it takes to be a doctor. On top of that, Joe falls in love with his no-nonsense lab partner (Daphne Zuniga -- THE SURE THING, TV's MELROSE PLACE), who won't let anything, especially romance, interfere with her plans. And while Joe's never done anything by the book, he proves he does have what it takes to succeed -- without changing his ways!

The Group is an ensemble film directed by the great Sidney Lumet (Network, The Verdict, Dog Day Afternoon), based on the novel by Mary McCarthy (The Company She Keeps) and adapted for the screen by legendary screenwriter Sidney Buchman (Here Comes Mr. Jordan, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington), about a group of eight young women—all classmates, friends, and recent graduates from a certain single-sex liberal arts college—as they face the inevitable pressures to sand the rough edges off their personalities and to surrender their independence to the men in their lives and the institutions they represent. The stellar cast includes Candice Bergen (Rich and Famous) in her film debut, Joan Hackett (Support Your Local Sheriff), Elizabeth Hartman (A Patch of Blue), Shirley Knight (The Rain People), Jessica Walter (Play Misty for Me), Joanna Pettet (Casino Royale), Kathleen Widdoes (TV’s As the World Turns), Larry Hagman (TV’s Dallas), Hal Holbrook (Magnum Force), Richard Mulligan (Scavenger Hunt), and James Congdon (4D Man). *This listing is for the standard edition version and does NOT come with a limited edition slipcase!* A seemingly divine premonition leads Norwegian sisters Kari and May to buy an apartment in the small Swedish town of Gullspång. To their surprise, the seller looks remarkably similar to their older sister Astrid, who committed suicide thirty years earlier. What’s even more odd is that this doppelgänger used to go by “Lita,” the same nickname as their deceased sister. What begins as an eerie story of destiny, faith and improbable coincidence soon becomes a Pandora’s Box of stranger-than-fiction revelations and awkwardly comical mishaps in this “riveting” and “one-of-a-kind” documentary that is “complete with Lynchian echoes of Twin Peaks” (The Hollywood Reporter). Bonus Features: 1. Interview with director Maria Fredriksson 2. 16-page booklet with an essay by entertainment journalist Sarah Clements Top About this item Similar From the Brand Reviews The Gullspång Miracle [Blu-ray]

From legendary director John Sturges (Bad Day at Black Rock, The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape) comes this rip-roaring western comedy about the year Denver was nearly devastated by a drought—of whiskey—and had to have forty wagonloads imported through very harsh—and very thirsty—territory! Screen greats Burt Lancaster (Gunfight at the O.K. Corral), Martin Landau (North by Northwest) and Lee Remick (Days of Wine and Roses) star in this spry, sprawling and spirited adventure that “wins both laughs and thrills” (The Hollywood Reporter)! Also starring Jim Hutton (Major Dundee), Pamela Tiffin (One, Two, Three), Donald Pleasence (Soldier Blue) and Brian Keith (The Rare Breed), with epic Ultra Panavision 70 photography by Robert Surtees (Ben-Hur) and a rousing score by Elmer Bernstein (The Magnificent Seven), this irreverent and literally dry look at frontier life is “possibly the funniest western ever made” (Los Angeles Times)! Special Features: -HD Master by MGM – From a 2K Scan of the 35mm Reduction Inter-positive -NEW Audio Commentary by Filmmaker/Historian Michael Schlesinger and Author/Screenwriter C. *This listing is for the standard edition version and does NOT come with a limited edition slipcase!* Vinegar Syndrome specializes in the masterful restoration and distribution of cult, horror, and erotic films from the 1960s-90s. Reeling from the recent death of his wife and two children in a car crash in England for which he was partly responsible, American architect Paul Carver is traveling to Morocco utterly dejected. Plagued with nightmares in which he relives the accident, amid what appear to be ominous premonitions, Carver is befriended on his flight by German archaeologist Otto Gunther, who invites him to a party that evening. While perusing Gunther’s home, Carver encounters a striking but strangely ethereal Moroccan woman named Marisa, who leads him to a remote, opulent palace. When, driving to their archaeological site the next morning, Gunther and his young assistant Chantal find Carver unconscious in the desert, they reject the tale he recounts as being a figment of his alcohol-addled imagination, claiming not to know of any such woman. But Gunther, well-versed in the region's ancient folklore, begins to fear that the forces of darkness may have their sights set on his new friend and that his very soul is at stake. A true outlier in the annals of 1960s British horror, THE HAND OF NIGHT (also released as Beast of Morocco) is a bewitching and highly singular take on the vampire mythos, trumping its Hammer peers by taking the -- for the period -- unusual step of filming largely on location in Morocco, lending the film a much greater sense of atmosphere and scope than many of its contemporaries. Featuring a host of notable American and British actors, including William Sylvester (Gorgo, Devil Doll), Diane Clare (The Haunting), and Edward Underdown (Dr. Terror’s House of Horrors), the celluloid archaeologists at Vinegar Syndrome Labs are delighted to dust off THE HAND OF NIGHT for its first-ever disc release, newly restored for Blu-ray and accompanied by a host of new bonus features. Bonus Features: 1. Region A Blu-ray 2. Newly restored by Vinegar Syndrome from a studio-supplied 4K master 3. Commentary track with film historians Jonathan Rigby and Kevin Lyons 4. "A New Breed of Vampire" (17 min) - an appreciation by author and film critic Kim Newman 5. "Associated with British Pathé" (25 min) - a featurette on Associated British Pathé, the production company behind The Hand of Night, with sound editor Roger Voss and ABP production accountant Franz von Habsburg 6. "An Associated British Pathé Budget" (8 min) - production accountant Franz von Habsburg discusses how an ABP production was budgeted 7. Reversible sleeve artwork 8. English SDH subtitles

Brand New 4K Restoration Supervised by Cinematographer John Mathieson! The silence has been broken... Dark, absorbing and entertaining, this follow-up to The Silence of the Lambs is an audacious success. Screen legend Anthony Hopkins (Nixon) is perverse perfection in his return to the role of Dr. Hannibal Lecter, the sophisticated killer who comes out of hiding to draw FBI Special Agent Clarice Starling (Julianne Moore, Far from Heaven) into a high-stakes battle that will test her strength, cunning... and loyalty. Meanwhile, the good doctor’s only surviving victim plots a particularly nasty revenge. Drenched in baroque terror and hair-raising visuals, Hannibal is as compelling as it is shocking. Legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner, The Martian) served up this smash-hit thriller from a screenplay by David Mamet (Glengarry Glen Ross) and Steven Zaillian (Schindler’s List), based on the bestselling novel by Thomas Harris (Red Dragon). Ray Liotta (Unforgettable), Giancarlo Giannini (Seven Beauties) and Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour) round out the delectable cast. From Michael Winner, the acclaimed director of The System, The Jokers, Lawman, The Nightcomers, The Mechanic, Death Wish and The Sentinel, comes this charming WWII adventure-comedy. Stephen “Hannibal” Brooks (Oliver Reed, Burnt Offerings, The Hunting Party) is a British prisoner of war assigned to care for an elephant named Lucy in a Munich zoo. When the zoo is bombed by the Americans, Brooks is ordered to transport Lucy by train to a safer zoo in Innsbruck. But when the train is commandeered by German troops, Brooks must escort the feisty pachyderm across the Austrian border on foot. Two of the film’s best features are the terrific color photography by Robert Paynter (Little Shop of Horrors) and original musical score by the great Francis Lai (Love Story). Co-starring Michael J. Pollard (Bonnie and Clyde) and Wolfgang Preiss (The Train), Hannibal Brooks was the fourth of six collaborations between star Reed and director Winner. Screen legend George C. Scott (Patton, The Day of the Dolphin) gives a strong, sensitive portrayal of a deeply religious Midwestern businessman whose daughter, while on a church-sponsored outing, runs away from home. He hires an oddball detective (Peter Boyle, The Brink’s Job), who learns that the daughter has been making cheap sex films. When the father realizes that he can no longer trust the detective, he decides to hunt for his daughter himself. Posing as a porno film producer casting a new movie, he gathers clues with ferocious determination. Finally, with the help of a prostitute (Season Hubley, Vice Squad), he locates his daughter. But is it too late? Paul Schrader, writer (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull) and director (Blue Collar, American Gigolo), presents a powerful, unflinching glimpse into the dark, bizarre world of the pornography industry. Featuring cinematography by Michael Chapman (Invasion of the Body Snatchers) and music by Jack Nitzsche (The Exorcist). Special Features: • Audio Commentary by Writer/Director Paul Schrader • Audio Commentary by Film Historians Eddy Friedfeld, Lee Pfeiffer and Paul Scrabo • Theatrical Trailer • Optional English Subtitles

Description
After a long summer with the horrid Dursleys, Harry Potter is thwarted in his attempts to board the train to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to begin his second year. Harry's only transportation option is a magical flying car, but, unfortunately, it crashes into a valuable (and clearly vexed) Whomping Willow. Still, all this seems like a day in the park compared to what awaits Harry that fall within the haunted halls of Hogwarts. Chilling, malevolent voices whisper from the walls only to Harry, and it seems certain that his classmate Draco Malfoy is out to get him. Soon it's not just Harry who is worried about survival, as dreadful things begin to happen at the school. The mysteriously gleaming foot-high words on the wall proclaim: "The Chamber of Secrets Has Been Opened. Enemies of the Heir, Beware."
