Franck (Raphae l Personnaz) is an eager rookie homicide squad inspector. When a woman is found with her throat cut, he shrewdly unearths parallels between previously unrelated cases. Before he knows it, Franck is caught up in an eight-year obsessive hunt for Serial Killer 1, a man whose very existence is questioned by others. Loosely based on the investigation into real-life murderer Guy Georges, aka the Beast Of The Bastille (whose lurking disorder is deftly captured by Adama Niane), the story milks suspense from the procedural aspects of the manhunt, the false leads, dead ends, and the stifling bureaucracy of a police force hindered by dwindling budgets and a knee-jerk insistence on outdated, traditional methods. An opening night selection at the Cannes Film Festival, this wacky horror comedy from Oscar winner Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist), is a remake of Shin’ichirô Ueda’s cult hit One Cut of the Dead. It follows a director (Romain Duris, L’Auberge Espagnole) making a live, single-take, low-budget zombie flick in which the cast and crew, one by one, actually turn into zombies. Hazanavicius milks the film’s hilarious and meta-to-the-max premise for all it’s worth, while also crafting a sly love letter to the art of filmmaking. What’s on screen unfolds in typical cheesy B-movie fashion, while the off-screen hijinks offer a celebration of the unpredictable and collaborative nature of film sets. Featuring a hysterically unhinged turn by Oscar nominee Berenice Bejo (The Artist) and serving up blood-soaked high farce par excellence, Final Cut revels in its affectionate embrace of goofy genre fun. Special Features: • Making-of Documentary • Theatrical Trailer

Brand New 4K Restoration! The film that started it all… the genre of “Spaghetti Western” was born, The Man with No Name was introduced and the iconic talents of star Clint Eastwood (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Unforgiven), director Sergio Leone (For a Few Dollars More, A Fistful of Dynamite) and composer Ennio Morricone (Navajo Joe, Death Rides a Horse) were launched. An instant international phenomenon, this hard-hitting epic stunned audiences with its violence, gritty realism and tongue-in-cheek humor. A lean, cold-eyed, cobra-quick gunfighter (Eastwood) arrives in a grim and dusty border town where two rival bands of smugglers terrorize the impoverished citizens. Though he receives lucrative offers of employment from each gang, his loyalty cannot be bought. He accepts both jobs... and sets in motion a deadly plan to destroy the criminals, pitting one against the other in a series of brilliantly orchestrated setups, showdowns and deadly confrontations. Flic Story 09/26 Blu-ray (Rental)

Description
In Flic Story, based on the real-life memoir of police detective Roger Borniche, producer/star Alain Delon and his frequent collaborator, director Jacques Deray (La Piscine, Borsalino, Three Men to Kill and more), have crafted a gritty policier, a suspenseful cat-and-mouse thriller and a frank true-crime exposé. The year is 1947. When Émile Buisson, post-liberation France’s most notorious criminal (Jean-Louis Trintignant, The Outside Man), escapes from a mental asylum and embarks on a bloody crime spree, Paris cop Roger Borniche (Delon, Le samouraï) gets the thankless job of either bringing him in or stopping him dead. Through rooftop pursuits, alley stakeouts, nightclub showdowns and car-to-car gun battles, Borniche, a stylish and scrupulously ethical “flic” (French slang for “cop”), is forced to break the rules he usually only bends. Driven to the edge of reason, Borniche will even risk the safety of his lover Catherine (Claudine Auger, Thunderball) to put his maniac nemesis back in a strait-jacket and on death row. Deray follows in the footsteps of master filmmaker Jean-Pierre Melville (Un flic) by bringing unsentimental verve, intelligent pacing and multi-layered performances to this hard-boiled classic of ’70s French film noir. Description
Powered by an Oscar-winning performance by Walter Matthau (The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, Charley Varrick) as the quintessential all American chiseler, The Fortune Cookie is a hysterically funny comedy that showcases legendary filmmaker Billy Wilder (Some Like It Hot, The Lost Weekend) at his uproarious best. Harry Hinkle (Jack Lemmon, Irma La Douce, Avanti!) is one lucky guy! When he's accidentally clobbered by a 220-pound halfback, all Harry suffers is a slight concussion. All, that is, until Whiplash Willie (Matthau) — a legal scoundrel of the first order — arrives on the scene! For if Harry follows shyster Willie's advice and feigns a crippling injury, the two charlatans can split a cool million in phony insurance claims. But can Willie's world-class finagling dispel those ominous words that lie within the fortune cookie on Harry's hospital plate: You can't fool all of the people all of the time? The first film to feature the dynamic duo of Matthau and Lemmon (The Odd Couple, The Front Page, Grumpy Old Men) was co-written by Wilder and his brilliant collaborator I.A.L. Description
Nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the Academy Awards® and one of the year’s most acclaimed releases, this riveting film by Kaouther Ben Hania (The Man Who Sold His Skin) uses an audacious formal conceit to tell the story of Olfa Hamrouni and her four daughters. Attempting to answer the question of how and why the Tunisian woman’s two eldest were radicalized, Ben Hania reveals a complex history. We watch as the family relives key events in their lives with help from professional actors standing in for the missing girls. Winner of the Best Documentary award at the Cannes Film Festival, Best Documentary Feature at the Gotham Awards, and Best Writing at the IDA Documentary Awards, Four Daughters is a compelling portrait of five women and a unique and ambitious work of nonfiction cinema that pushes against the conventional boundaries of the documentary form to explore the nature of memory, rebellion, and the ties that bind mothers and daughters. Description
Léa Seydoux (No Time to Die) brilliantly holds the center of Bruno Dumont’s (Li’l Quinquin) unexpected, unsettling new film France, which starts out as a satire of the contemporary news media before steadily spiraling out into something richer and darker. Never one to shy away from provoking his viewers, Dumont casts Seydoux as France de Meurs, a seemingly unflappable superstar TV journalist whose career, home life, and psychological stability are shaken after she carelessly drives into a young delivery man on a busy Paris street. This accident triggers a series of self-reckonings, as well as a strange romance that proves impossible to shake. A film that teases at redemption while refusing to grant absolution, France is tragicomic and deliciously ambivalent—a very 21st-century treatment of the difficulty of maintaining identity in a corrosive culture.
