Decades before reality television reigned supreme, there was Albert Brooks’s debut feature, Real Life, a brilliantly deadpan, stylistically innovative satire about the perils and pitfalls of trying to capture the truth on film. The writer-director plays “Albert Brooks,” a narcissistic Hollywood filmmaker who plans to spend the year in Phoenix embedded with Warren and Jeanette Yeager (Charles Grodin and Frances Lee McCain) and their two children, deploying an arsenal of cutting-edge equipment (including the over-the-head Ettinauer 226XL camera) to capture an American family’s ordinary day-to-day. Chronicling the project’s disastrous fallout, as the meddlesome Albert can’t help getting too close to his subjects, this pioneering mockumentary is more relevant than ever amid today’s media landscape. DIRECTOR-APPROVED BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION FEATURES New 4K digital restoration, supervised and approved by director Albert Brooks, with uncompressed monaural soundtrack New interview with Brooks New interview with actor Frances Lee McCain 3D trailer directed by Brooks English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing PLUS: An essay by film critic A. Romance becomes psychodrama in Alfred Hitchcock s elegantly crafted Rebecca, his first foray into Hollywood filmmaking. A dreamlike adaptation of Daphne du Maurier's 1938 novel, the film stars the enchanting Joan Fontaine as a young woman who believes she has found her heart's desire when she marries the dashing aristocratic widower Maxim de Winter (played with cunning vulnerability by Laurence Olivier). But upon moving to Manderley her groom s baroque ancestral mansion she soon learns that his deceased wife haunts not only the home but the temperamental, brooding Maxim as well. The start of Hitchcock's legendary collaboration with producer David O. Selznick, this elegiac gothic vision, captured in stunning black and white by George Barnes, took home the Academy Awards for best picture and best cinematography. TWO-BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION FEATURES - New 4K digital restoration, with uncompressed monaural soundtrack - Audio commentary from 1990 featuring film scholar Leonard J. Leff - Isolated music and effects track - New conversation between film critic and author Molly Haskell and scholar Patricia White - New interview with special effects historian Craig Barron on the visual effects in Rebecca - Documentary from 2007 on the making of Rebecca - Screen, hair, makeup, and costume tests including actors Joan Fontaine, Anne Baxter, Vivien Leigh, Margaret Sullavan, and Loretta Young - Casting gallery annotated by director Alfred Hitchcock and producer David O. Selznick - Television interviews with Hitchcock and Fontaine from 1973 and 1980 - Audio interviews from 1986 with actor Judith Anderson and Fontaine - Three radio adaptations of Rebecca, from 1938, 1941, and 1950, including Orson Welles s version for the Mercury Theatre - Theatrical rerelease trailer - PLUS: An essay by critic and Selznick biographer David Thomson and selected production correspondence, including letters between Hitchcock and Selznick.

Another 12 classic martial arts films highlight this explosive box set comprised from the famous Shaw Brothers' library and featuring some of their greatest stars including The Five Deadly Venom's stars Phillip Kwok, Sun Chien, Lu Feng, Chiang Sheng, and Lo Meng and A Better Tomorrow's Derek Yee and Ti Lung. Many of these visually spectacular films are debuting for the first time on Blu-ray. Heroes meet villains in edge-of-your-seat duels in this exciting array of some of Shaw Brothers' best! The Rebel Intruders: The "Venoms" are back in action again! After creating an international sensation in The Five Venoms, Taiwanese Opera artists Phillip Kwok, Chiang Sheng and Lu Feng reteamed with Chinese muscleman Lo Meng and super-kicker Sun Chien for this politically charged thriller. Set in the early Republican years, The Rebel Intruders follows skilled refugees who run afoul of a powerful traitor. From then on, it's one amazing battle after another! Two Champions Of Shaolin: Legendary director Chang Cheh hit upon a winning formula by teaming three Taiwanese stars with a Korean kicker and a Chinese strongman in a super heroic series of kung fu-filled adventures—starting with the international cult favorite, The Five Venoms. This particular action-packed tale of Shaolin vs. Wu Tang fighters is special in that the fifth "Venom" worked behind the scenes while the other four strut their stuff all the more intently because of it. Legend Of The Fox: Revered director Chang Cheh co-wrote this showcase for a new discovery. Bloody thrills and superlative fight scenes buoy his exciting tale of revenge, which was choreographed by and features cameos from the director's three most popular "Venoms": Kuo Chue, Chiang Sheng, and Lu Feng. Already famous for starring in more than a dozen films, here they lend their extensive expertise to Chien Hsiao-hou, who went on to star in such classics as Mr. Vampire and Fist Of Legend. Black Lizard: Director Chor Yuen is famous for introducing elements of murder mysteries, detective tales, and emotional melodrama into kung fu films. This is one of those skilled thrillers, wherein he uses two editors and three martial arts choreographers to tell a tale of kidnapping, murder, frame-ups, and even being buried alive. The kung fu takes on a macabre, horrific flair in this stunning story of swordsmen and women struggling to save their true loves…and their sanity. House Of Traps: It started with The Five Venoms, the internationally loved kung fu thriller. It continues through more than a dozen bloody good films featuring the same actors in different roles. House Of Traps is considered the last official "Venoms" movie, but what a film it is. There's one plasma-spurting attack after another as heroes and rogues alike try to solve the secrets of a hell house. The core Venoms themselves choreograph the gory fun in this fond farewell to their worldwide film series sensation. Masked Avengers: The godfather of the kung fu film, Chang Cheh, started a winning streak by making the internationally renowned film, The Five Venoms. He followed that hit with many more high-flying films featuring the same cast in new roles. But of all the Venoms movies, this one stands out as perhaps the most chilling. Masked killers are wreaking havoc and instilling terror with their vicious weapons of choice: razor-sharp, gut-shattering tridents. Only three fearless fighters dare investigate, leading to mass murder and magnificent martial arts. The Sword Stained With Royal Blood: The godfather of the kung fu film, Chang Cheh, made this treasured and iconic adventure, featuring three of his five famous Venoms film actors. The spectacular action and intrigue starts when Phillip Kwok uncovers a sword, a training manual, a treasure map, and a secret message. The kung fu which ensues is as impressive as it is glorious. Five Element Ninjas: To showcase his incredibly agile new star, Cheng Tien-chi, venerated martial arts movie director Chang Cheh made this spectacular, internationally popular favorite. Evil ninjas (who attack with and from fire, sun, wood, water, and the ground) brutally slaughter a noble Chinese kung fu school's students. The one survivor finds a teacher and four students who are ninjutsu experts. The five graduates take revenge. With this strong structure and exceptional kung fu choreography (from the star and co-star Chu Ko), Chang Cheh created one of his very best films. Shaolin Prince: Tong Kai is one of the most respected names in martial arts movies, but may be less familiar because the veteran kung fu choreographer directed only three movies of his own. Of course, that makes Shaolin Prince, his first effort, perhaps the most special of the trio. His tale of two fugitive princes trying to recover the throne is a mind-bending wonder which used no less than five other choreographer friends to create kung fu configurations not only never seen before, but never even attempted! Shaolin Intruders: Helmed by acclaimed martial arts choreographer Tong Kai, Shaolin Intruders is an entertaining amalgamation of eye-popping martial arts and thrilling detective story. On a routine courier mission, the prestigious Chin Hu Chief is murdered by four mysterious monks. When all evidence points to Ching Hua (Liu Yu-po), his friend Lei Hsin (Derek Yee) is determined to clear his name by barging in the Shaolin Temple thrice and entering into an intricate web of deception! The film is filled with jaw-dropping sequences including the "Twelve Vajrayana Array" and "Stool Array" which are lauded for their insane complexity and lightning speed. Holy Flame Of The Martial World: This internationally popular tale of a brother and sister seeking vengeance for the death of their parents through the mythical yin/yang Holy Flame technique is an eye-popping epic. Phillip Kwok, famous as the star of Chang Cheh's internationally famous Venoms film series, both co-stars and choreographs this impressive tale—leading to a vaunted "action director" career with the cult classic Brotherhood Of The Wolf to his credit. Opium And The Kung-Fu Master: Tong Kai is considered one of the greatest kung fu choreographers ever, but he directed only three movies of his own. This, his last, is not only his greatest but one of the greatest ever, as it masterfully portrays the leader of the Ten Kwangtung Tigers as he falls victim to drug addiction. The tragedies and drama that ensue are as stunning as the kung fu, which was created by a superlative team of six martial artists. A legitimate masterpiece, this film is one of the finest, most affecting martial arts movies the Shaw Brothers ever produced. In 2007, two talented Spanish filmmakers created a terrifying film that went on to spawn three sequels, an American remake and its sequel. In the first film, [REC], a TV reporter and her crew are asked to cover a crew of firemen on duty. What seems like a routine story about a night at the fire station soon turns into a nightmare. Trapped inside a quarantined building, the crew must try to survive the terror that rages inside. [REC] 2 picks up minutes after the end of [REC]. The authorities have lost contact with the people trapped inside the quarantined building and chaos reigns. A Special Operations Unit has been tasked with entering the premises…only to discover that this is anything but a straightforward mission. [REC] 3: Genesis leaves the confines of the quarantined building to follow the wedding of Koldo and Clara. Everything appears to be running smoothly and the bride and groom are enjoying a wonderful day…until some of the guests start showing signs of a strange illness and unleash a torrent of violence. [REC] 4: Apocalypse returns focus to Ángela Vidal, the young reporter who has managed to make it out of the building alive. But she hasn't made it out of the building alone as she carries the seed of the strange infection. She is taken to a provisional quarantine facility: the perfect location for the virus to be reborn. Everyday life becomes an adventure in the wide-eyed fables and fantasies of Albert Lamorisse. Balancing imaginative whimsy with documentary-like authenticity, his beloved short films Bim, the Little Donkey; White Mane; and the Academy Award–winning The Red Balloon find unforgettable emotional, spiritual, and moral resonance in the realms of children and animals, while his captivating but now rarely seen features Stowaway in the Sky and Circus Angel exult in the glories of two of his greatest loves: nature and flight. With their astonishing cinematography and purity of spirit, these five enchanting works invite viewers of all ages to experience the wonder, mystery, and poignancy of the world anew. TWO-BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION FEATURES New 4K digital restorations of The Red Balloon and White Mane and new 2K digital restorations of Bim, the Little Donkey; Stowaway in the Sky; and Circus Angel, with uncompressed monaural soundtrack U.S. English-language version of Bim, the Little Donkey New interview with actor Pascal Lamorisse, director Albert Lamorisse’s son My Father Was a Red Balloon, a 2008 documentary featuring Pascal Lamorisse and his daughter Lysa French television interviews with Albert Lamorisse from 1957 and 1959 English narrations for White Mane, by Peter Strauss, and Stowaway in the Sky, by Jack Lemmon English-dubbed track for Circus Angel New English subtitle translation and English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing PLUS: An essay by critic David Cairns THE RED BALLOON Rarely has the spirit of childhood been evoked as exquisitely as in this Academy Award–winning cinematic fable, a fantasy with the texture of reality. On the streets of 1950s Paris, a young boy (played by director Albert Lamorisse’s son, Pascal) is launched on a miraculous adventure when he’s playfully pursued by a shiny red balloon that seems to have a mind of its own—until the harsh realities of the world interfere, setting the stage for a deeply moving finale. Shot in beautifully muted Technicolor, this beguiling allegory of innocence and transcendence has inspired generations of viewers to let their imaginations take flight. WHITE MANE Possessed of the timeless perfection of a fable, this tale about the unique bond between children and animals is Albert Lamorisse’s ode to the awe-inspiring majesty of nature. Amid the vast flatlands of the Camargue in the South of France lives White Mane, a magnificent wild stallion who refuses to be broken by men and instead forms a connection with a young boy, with whom he embarks on a daring quest for freedom. Fully capturing the rugged beauty of its marsh setting, this extraordinarily photographed treasure of children’s cinema—which won the Grand Prix for Best Short Film at the Cannes Film Festival—speaks to the hearts of all creatures yearning to live untamed. BIM, THE LITTLE DONKEY Featuring narration by celebrated poetic-realist writer Jacques Prévert, Albert Lamorisse’s first fiction film established his stylistic and thematic signatures: elegant simplicity, storybook-like voice-over, and empathetic concern for children and animals. Filmed on the Tunisian island of Djerba, this spirited adventure follows two boys—one poor and good-hearted, the other wealthy and spoiled—who go from rivals to friends as they set out to save a donkey from thieves. From the start, Lamorisse’s gift for bringing forth the inner lives of his nonhuman characters suffuses his art with an otherworldly magic. STOWAWAY IN THE SKY Following the international triumph of The Red Balloon, Albert Lamorisse turned to feature filmmaking with another delightful tale of a boy and a balloon. Making spectacular use of Helivision—an innovative aerial photography technique he developed—Lamorisse takes us on the breathtaking odyssey of a young boy (played by his son, Pascal) who sneaks aboard his inventor grandfather’s experimental new hot-air balloon for a voyage across France. Soaring above cathedrals and castles, the Mediterranean and the Alps, Stowaway in the Sky celebrates the natural world and ponders, with surprising existential insight, the place of human beings within it. CIRCUS ANGEL Albert Lamorisse’s second and final foray into narrative feature filmmaking is also a whimsical visual enchantment and an elegant and eccentric comedy. In it, a daring young thief (Philippe Avron)—having been affixed with a pair of wings in order to become a flying circus attraction—finds himself mistaken for an angel, spreading both mischief and goodwill as he travels across the countryside. Lamorisse’s love of flight and his gentle humanism shine through in this work of impish charm and exuberant inspiration. *This listing is for the standard edition version and does NOT come with a limited edition slipcase!* Vinegar Syndrome specializes in the masterful restoration and distribution of cult, horror, and erotic films from the 1960s-90s. A fledgling film crew, led by the lovable, yet blind, director Larry Benjamin, is hard at work making - or at least trying to make - Benjamin’s latest and most ridiculous movie. But problems with a difficult cast, an inexperienced and distracted crew, special effects that don’t quite work, and more are soon upended when members of the production team begin to be murdered in increasingly strange and convoluted ways. As the rickety production grinds to a halt, and tensions and distrust flare, the mystery assailant continues to strike. Will Larry and his ragtag team of creative misfits be able to band together and unmask the monstrous force hellbent on killing off the movie's cast and crew before everyone left is reduced to piles of bloody pulp? Acclaimed filmmaker Lloyd Kaufman’s (The Toxic Avenger) twisted take on a meta-movie, TERROR FIRMER is a splatter-fueled shock-fest-cum-murder-mystery which pushes the concept of bad taste to its wildest and most creative extremes, as only Troma can do. Michelangelo Antonioni's RED DESERT is a somber tale about Giuliana, a young wife and mother struggling to understand her crumbling psyche, as she slowly loses her mind in the midst of a deteriorating environment. Set in a stark gray, heavily industrialized area of rural Italy where Giuliana's husband, Ugo works at a factory, and receives an extended visit from a business partner, Corrado with whom Giuliana has a strange affair. A cold and haunting film, with complex, unorthodox sound effects and unusual visuals that illustrate Giuliana's psyche, RED DESERT is an Antonioni masterpiece that will linger powerfully in the viewer's mind well after the film has ended. Product Description The most inept band of space travelers ever to roam the interstellar highway; return with an all-new season of misadventures! The brand new series, written and directed by Doug Naylor, begins with the Dwarfers mining ship still creaking though the wastelands of unchartered deep space, but the posse soon stumbles upon the mysteriously abandoned SS Trojan. As they inspect the ship Rimmer receives an SOS distress call from an old foe and is suddenly faced with the dilemma of his life. Red Dwarf X reunites the much loved original cast of Chris Barrie (Rimmer), Craig Charles (Lister), Danny John-Jules (Cat) and Robert Llewellyn (Kryten) and promises to be a huge hit amongst the Sci Fi sitcom’s cult following of devoted fans. Bonus Content: We’re Smegged - exclusive feature-length documentaryDeleted Scenes - w ith optional writer commentarySmeg Ups - the unseen outtakes Amazon.com In the annals of obsessed British TV followers, the cult of Red Dwarf aficionados is truly in a class by itself. The on-again off-again comedy/sci-fi series began on BBC in 1988 with an affably cheesy look (are you listening, Dr. Who?), a core quartet of lovable/hate-able main characters, a penchant for geeky storylines and juvenile joking, and a studio audience that provided an enthusiastic laugh track. Largely due to fan demand, the show's hiatuses have been temporary lulls. Just in time for the 25th anniversary, series 10 provides plenty of cause for celebration among its international devotees. For those unfamiliar with the Red Dwarf universe, it's probably cause for slack-jawed bewilderment. The original premise has remained the backbone of the show throughout its many runs: a schlubby Liverpudlian named Dave Lister (Craig Charles) is the last earthling in existence, having spent three million years in suspended animation when he awakes on the deep space mining vessel Red Dwarf. His crewmates are an unctuous robot named Kryten (Robert Llewellyn), an annoying hologram named Rimmer (Chris Barrie), and a descendant of Dave's beloved cat who has evolved into a preening, vain humanoid unironically named Cat (Danny John-Jules). Creator Doug Naylor still has this motley gang roaming infinite space and time in the six new episodes of Red Dwarf X. They will easily delight Red Dwarfers everywhere with absurdist stories that find the crew accidentally involving itself in the life of a man named Jesus in the year 23, the paradox of Dave spending Father's Day with a son who is also Dave, dealing with the fallout of a distress signal from a ship helmed by Rimmer's smug brother, a poker game gone wrong and a space-time blip that swallows Kryten and Cat, and a complicated mechanical love affair linked to a letter from Dave's million-plus-year-old girlfriend. All of this is top-loaded with the signature Red Dwarf toilet-anchored and often extremely juvenile humor, which translates easily across the millenniums for those who go in for that sort of thing. The lexicon, language, and rhythm of the show is intact, including the odd stretches of semi-drama interspersed with the one-liners. "Smeg" remains the universal catch phrase for the show as a one-size-fits-all code for all things crude. Notably, it's the fakey cardboard sets, the slapdash makeup, and the ever-present guffaws of the studio audience that remain the most comforting elements as they hark back to the show's roots. This may be the future, but it's nice to know that the Red Dwarf past lives on. Disc two of the package will be just as exciting as the six episodes on disc one. It's packed with extras, including a half hour of deleted scenes and a hilarious blooper reel of "Smeg Ups" that are all the more engaging because of the added interaction between cast and audience when set mistakes happen. The featured event is a two-hour documentary, "We're Smegged: The Making Of," an in-depth look at the entire production of series 10. This is a treasure trove of Red Dwarf marginalia, with lots of insight about the tiniest details of what Doug Naylor and his cast and crew went through to bring delight to their devotees. Appropriately, the series' final episode is titled "The Beginning," thereby giving hope that Red Dwarf will never really fly off into the space sunset. --Ted Fry

Product Description Red Dwarf: Back to Earth (BD) The boys are back, and while they may be older, they’re still none the wiser. The crew discover a dimension-hopping leviathan, but Rimmer is threatened with replacement by the new, improved holograph Katrina. She is determined to guide Lister to his home planet, but no one is prepared for Earth 2009, where the hapless crew face death unless they can track down their creators. The Red Dwarf crew rocket their way back to DVD and Blu-ray in this all-new special! Kochanski is dead and the crew is hurled through a portal to discover they are just characters from a TV series. Knowing they will die in the final episode the Dwarfers, in best Blade Runner tradition, decide to track down their creators to discover how long they have left to live. First the crew attempts to track down the actors who play them in the series and their metaphysicalodyssey begins… Amazon.com It was a long time coming, but finally the crew of the Red Dwarf were reunited for what could be the last time with Back to Earth. And it proved to be a bit of a mixed blessing, with all three parts throwing up moments of absolute genius, alongside parts where you couldn’t help believing that its best days are far behind it. The idea behind the show is quite ingenious. Back to Earth takes place after the supposed season 10 of Red Dwarf, and the crew find themselves thrown through a portal, at which time they realize that they’re all just characters from a TV show. Furthermore, they’re characters from a TV show who are going to all buy it in the final episode. The only solution? To track down both the actors that play them (including a trip to the set!), and the creators of Red Dwarf itself. This opens the door for plenty of postmodern gags and situations, but arguably it’s only when things get back into more familiar territory that they start to gel a little more. And when they work, you can’t help but enjoy the fact that the crew are back together. Will this be the last voyage for Red Dwarf? Quite possibly, and there’s little doubt that it’s far from the show’s peak. But it’s still a fun and entertaining send-off. --Jon Foster

At a card game she meets a kindred spirit, the noble and handsome yakuza Katagiri (Ken Takakura) and soon they are a force to be reckoned with. Part 2 finds Oryu under the arm of the kind gang boss of a silk farming town. When ruthless loan sharks encroach and their treachery leads to murder, it is Oryu's sworn duty to exact justice. Maestro of Japanese cinema Tai Kato simultaneously satiates and transcends genre tropes in his masterful direction of the celebrated third film in the series. From it's classically melodramatic opening set piece involving an oncoming train, the stage is set for a visually rich tale of good versus evil.
