Powell and Pressburger's sweeping portrait of a British soldier is often called the greatest British film ever made. Roger Livesey plays General Clive Candy, a living relic of old-school English militarism, whose life unfolds across four turbulent decades, from 1902 to 1942, as the world he knows changes beyond recognition. Anton Walbrook plays the German officer who becomes his lifelong friend, and Deborah Kerr plays three women of successive generations — a governess, a wartime nurse and an army driver — who each leave their mark on him. By turns moving and quietly satirical, it is a film about war, love, growing old and being left behind by history, photographed in rich Technicolor.

Description

In one of his first-ever roles, a young Jack Nicholson stars as Lt. Andre Duvalier, a soldier in Napoleon's army in 19th century France, separated from his regiment. He awakens on a beach to the sight of a strange woman who leads him to the gothic, towering castle that serves as home to eerie Baron Von Leppe (Boris Karloff). But, as Duvalier soon discovers, nothing is what it seems in this ghastly, haunted mansion of death! This underground favorite was made in classic Roger Cormanfashion, making the most of his resources to bring yet another film to life on a minimal budget for his producers at American International Pictures. Short on time himself (there were more movies to be made!), Corman left it to a few of the aspiring directors within his crew (among them, Jack Hill, a young Francis Coppola, and even Jack Nicholson taking a turn behind the camera for a few scenes) to help see the film to completion. The Terror would go on to become a drive-in favorite and late-night TV staple, also appearing under the titles the Terror, Lady of the Shadows and the Castle of Terror.

Description

This is only for the bonus disc and contains 'The Director and the Jedi' feature-length documentary, 'Balance of the Force', three scene breakdowns ('Lighting the Spark: Creating the Space Battle', 'Snoke and Mirrors' and 'Showdown on Crait'), 'Andy Serkis Live! Description

Marcell Jankovics, the Hungarian animator behind Son of the White Mare, spent 23 years making this vast animated epic, which follows Adam, Eve and Lucifer on an endless struggle through the whole of human history. Adapted from Imre Madách's 19th-century dramatic poem — a work often set alongside Goethe's Faust and Milton's Paradise Lost — the film unfolds as a nonstop animated scroll of demons, cave paintings come to life, barbarian warriors, pharaohs, knights, martyrs and prophets, one brutal era dissolving into the next like pages of a flipbook. Lucifer, a shape-shifting antagonist who appears as everything from the Devil to Anubis, guides and manipulates Adam and Eve as they search for a purpose to human existence, if one exists at all. The film's 15 episodes were produced one at a time as funding allowed, each in a different visual style drawn from world art and ritual: in Egypt, slaves' bodies form the very blocks of the pyramids; in Greece, backgrounds crack like pottery; in Rome, mosaic gladiators come alive; in the Middle Ages, zealots turn into warring churches. The result is a surreal, psychedelic, operatic vision of human 'progress' — a Bosch-like Hell on Earth, lit by brief glimpses of grace and love that hint at hope.

Description

In this sweeping retelling of the Iliad, Paris of Troy's abduction of Helen ignites a Greek siege of the walled city that lasts a decade.
