This was my favorite book as a teenager. Admittedly, I didn't (and don't) read much. This book kept me coming back though. It did such a good job of making you feel what it was like to be in the situation. I was skeptical about the movie and it did land on the side of disappointment. It wasn't too bad, but I don't think, despite the book being short, that you can nearly gain the same sense of horror and immersion in a quick movie as you did with the book. There’s an inherent emotional manipulation that comes with the concept of this film that kept me from watching it for a while. It’s also one of Stephen King’s worst books I’ve ever read.
Despite that, this was one of the most visceral watches I’ve had in a long time, a completely devastating and arresting movie. David Jonsson and Cooper Hoffman better stay booked and busy for a long time.
There was only one ending that really made sense for this one, and somehow I didn’t even see it coming.
