Dolby vision?
Does dolby vision matter to you? I never once have heard anyone in my life bring it up. Is having dolby vision support a must, I saw somone asking about tvs earlier an most his choices where samsung which doesnt support it. Wanted to see what yall think about it

I’m pretty neutral on Dolby Vision. If two versions are otherwise equal, sure, I’d rather have Dolby Vision. But I’ve never seen enough of a difference over a good HDR10 presentation to make it a deciding factor. The quality of the transfer/master matters way more to me.

Absolutely. If I’m buying/renting a 4K disc and paying for the best possible picture quality, I want Dolby Vision. The dynamic metadata can optimize HDR scene by scene, and on a good display the improvement in highlights, shadow detail and overall tone mapping can be noticeable. It’s not going to fix a bad transfer, but given the choice, I want the best HDR format available.

Yep, I’m a fan. If I’m already paying for 4K, give me all the fancy picture stuff 😂 Is Dolby Vision absolutely necessary? Probably not. Do I still want it? Absolutely.

I'm with @Jay3BR. For a new movie shot in digital, I'm all for the elevation of picture. I will so I do think there is a noticeable difference if it's filmed and designed around DV initially; Spiderman: Homecoming was the first time I understood and could appreciate DV. But stuffing it until a 4K transfer can make it potentially worse, not better. Give me a good transfer and good color grading, then worry about HDR vs DV.
