The picture and sound quality is way better. It is night and day with the higher bit rate from physical media and you get true dolby atmos not DD+ compressed Atmos.

It is definitely worth the upgrade with the right AVR and Speaker setup. Even if you can't mount speakers in the ceiling using up-firing speakers sitting on top of a pair of Towers works well.
