The Movie does a fairly good job of covering the basics of the book in a very short timeframe. Gosling makes the trip charming and Rocky is a fun opposite in this success for non-franchise film making

Not one of Spielberg's prime offerings from a storytelling perspective, but Blunt is charismatic and worth the watch. Unfortunately the concept behind the movie gets shortchanged in it's handling.

Looks great, sounds great. Fun characters and creatures. Thought Alcock did a good job with what she was given. The entire plot where the protagonists expose themselves to large peril over saving a poisoned dog who could have been fixed up by taking him to a yellow sun (this is spelled out specifically in the movie) is lacking in importance or consistency.
