From Joseph Losey, the legendary director of The Prowler, The Criminal, Modesty Blaise, Secret Ceremony and Figures in a Landscape, comes this classic melodrama with a screenplay by the great Harold Pinter (The Birthday Party, The Pumpkin Eater, The Homecoming). When one of his students is killed in a car accident, an Oxford professor (Dirk Bogarde, The Mind Benders) recounts the circumstances of their meeting. But as these turbulent memories unfold, they reveal a series of shocking relationships betrayed by adultery, obsession and self-destruction in which nothing is what it seems and everything has its cost. Accident was the second of three brilliant collaborations between filmmaker Losey and playwright Pinter; the first was the 1963 masterpiece The Servant and the third, the 1971 classic The Go-Between. Stanley Baker (Robbery), Michael York (Something for Everyone), Vivien Merchant (The Maids), Jacqueline Sassard (Les Biches), Delphine Seyrig (Last Year at Marienbad), Alexander Knox (Wilson) and Freddie Jones (Juggernaut) co-star in this stunning 1967 drama that Newsweek called “like a punch in the chest.” Based on a novel by Nicholas Mosley (The Assassination of Trotsky) and beautifully shot by Gerry Fisher (Man on Fire, The Offence). Special Features: -NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian Kat Ellinger -Optional English Subtitles -Dual-Layered BD50 Disc -Theatrical Trailer

Product Description Gregory Peck, David Niven and Anthony Quinn attempt to infiltrate an impregnable Nazi fortress and destroy two enormous long-range field guns in this 1961 Oscar-winner for Best Special Effects. Amazon.com This rousing, explosive 1961 WWII adventure, based on Alistair MacLean's thrilling novel, turns the war thriller into a deadly caper film. Gregory Peck heads a star-studded cast charged with a near impossible mission: destroy a pair of German guns nestled in a protective cave on the strategic Mediterranean island of Navarone, from where they can control a vital sea passage. As world famous mountain climber turned British army Captain Mallory, Peck leads a guerrilla force composed of the humanistic explosives expert, Miller (David Niven), the ruthless Greek patriot with a grudge, Stavros (Anthony Quinn), veteran special forces soldier Brown (Stanley Baker), and the cool, quiet young marksman Pappadimos (James Darren). This disparate collection of classic types must overcome internal conflicts, enemy attacks, betrayal, and capture to complete their mission. Director J. Lee Thompson sets a driving pace for this exciting (if familiar) military operation, a succession of close calls, pitched battles, and last-minute escapes as our heroes infiltrate the garrisoned town with the help of resistance leader Maria (Irene Papas) and plot their entry into the heavily guarded mountain fort. Carl Foreman's screenplay embraces MacLean's role call of clichés and delivers them with style, creating one of the liveliest mixes of espionage, combat, and good old-fashioned military derring-do put on film. In 1978, the sequel Force 10 from Navarone was released, but MacLean fans will prefer to check out the action-packed thriller Where Eagles Dare. --Sean Axmaker

The marvelous Irwin Shaw adapted two of his own Paris-set short stories for In the French Style (1963), directed by Robert Parrish (The Wonderful Country) and starring Jean Seberg. Once again, Seberg is the archetypal footloose American girl in the City of Light, engaging in a series of affairs before falling hard for a hard-drinking journalist (Stanley Baker). Beautifully shot by Michel Kelber (French Cancan) and featuring a score by the man who was, for many years, Jean Renoir’s house composer, Joseph Kosma.

Long live King Arthur and Camelot! Yet in all of ancient England's newfound peace there is a fraying link in Arthur's chain: the growing passion between heroic knight Sir Lancelot and beautiful Queen Guinevere. One of history's most beloved legends is vibrantly retold in an adaptation downplaying fantasy elements and giving 6th-century England a new kind of fantasy: a dazzling Hollywood sheen bursting with the CinemaScope-sized pageantry, conflicts and imposing citadels of location-lensed 1950s spectaculars. Robert Taylor is Lancelot, sworn to serve his king (Mel Ferrer) but devoted to his queen (Ava Gardner). Richard Thorpe, who teamed with Taylor for eight films, directs this colorful epic of bravery and honor.
