With this sublimely bittersweet tale of romantic longing, director David Lean left behind the British soundstage to capture in radiant Technicolor the sun-splashed glory of Venice at the height of summer. In a tour de force of fearless vulnerability, Katharine Hepburn embodies the conflicting emotions that stir the heart of a lonely, middle-aged American tourist who is forced to confront her deep-seated insecurities when she is drawn into a seemingly impossible affair with a charming Italian shopkeeper (Rossano Brazzi) amid the ancient city’s canals and piazzas. Lean’s personal favorite among his own films, Summertime is an exquisitely tender evocation of the magic and melancholy of a fleeting, not-quite-fairy-tale romance. Description

After making his first bonafide classic in Ride the High Country, director Sam Peckinpah took a step towards the epic with Major Dundee. The film would, in many ways, define the rest of his career both on screen and off, as the drama behind the camera matched the action in front of it. Charlton Heston stars as Major Amos Dundee, a vainglorious Union Cavalry officer, who mounts an expedition to hunt down Apache war chief Sierra Charriba. Building his own army of criminals, ex-slaves and Confederate POWs - among them one Captain Ben Tyreen (Richard Harris), whose intense former friendship with Dundee is tainted with a sense of betrayal on both sides - Dundee heads into Mexico, his eye fixed firmly on a last shot at greatness. Legendarily acerbic, Major Dundee would be the first time that Peckinpah had a movie taken away from him. While a director’s cut may be lost to us, this Limited Edition shows us the thrilling, morally complex epic that Peckinpah was aiming for. Beautifully shot and with a stellar supporting cast including James Coburn, Warren Oates, and L.Q. Jones, it remains a stunning achievement and an essential experience for anyone interested in the life and cinema of “Bloody Sam.” TWO-DISC LIMITED EDITION BLU-RAY CONTENTS The 136-minute Extended Version of the film from a 4K scan, as well as the original 122-minute Theatrical Version 60-page booklet featuring new writing by Farran Nehme, Roderick Heath and Jeremy Carr plus select archive material Limited edition packaging featuring newly commissioned artwork by Tony Stella Fold out poster featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Tony Stella DISC ONE - EXTENDED VERSION High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) presentation from a 4K scan by Sony Pictures DTS-HD MA 5.1 surround audio with new score by Christopher Caliendo Lossless original mono audio with original score by Daniele Amfitheatrof Optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing Audio commentary with Nick Redman, David Weddle, Garner Simmons, Paul Seydor Audio commentary by critics Glenn Erickson & Alan K. Nothing will stop him now. Not the winter's bitter cold. Not the knife-like stabs of hunger. Brutally wounded mountain man Zachary Bass (Richard Harris), left for dead by his furtrapping partners, somehow pushes on. And he's driven by one of the most relentless powers in all nature: revenge. In Man in the Wilderness, Harris (Unforgiven) recaptures the ferocity and heroism of his A Man Called Horse. Bass makes a 600-mile journey of vengeance across the 1820s American Northwest -- facing every obstacle with a savagery greater than the untamed wilds. Two-time Oscar winner John Huston* plays Captain Henry, a weathered, craggy-voiced tyrant haunted by the fear that the man he's sure is dead will somehow return. Called "extraordinary uncompromising in the utmost" by the Los Angeles Times, Man in the Wilderness is fury come to vivid life. Michelangelo Antonioni's RED DESERT is a somber tale about Giuliana, a young wife and mother struggling to understand her crumbling psyche, as she slowly loses her mind in the midst of a deteriorating environment. Set in a stark gray, heavily industrialized area of rural Italy where Giuliana's husband, Ugo works at a factory, and receives an extended visit from a business partner, Corrado with whom Giuliana has a strange affair. A cold and haunting film, with complex, unorthodox sound effects and unusual visuals that illustrate Giuliana's psyche, RED DESERT is an Antonioni masterpiece that will linger powerfully in the viewer's mind well after the film has ended. Starring Monica Vitti, Carlo Chionetti and Richard Harris.

A hallucinatory biopic that breaks all cinematic conventions, Walker, from British director Alex Cox, tells the story of nineteenth-century American adventurer William Walker (Ed Harris), who abandoned a series of careers in law, politics, journalism, and medicine to become a soldier of fortune and, for many months, the dictator of Nicaragua. Made with mad abandon and political acuity—and the support of the Sandinista army and government during the contra war—the film uses this true tale as a satirical attack on American ultrapatriotism and a freewheeling condemnation of “manifest destiny.” Featuring a powerful score by Joe Strummer and a performance of intense, repressed rage by Harris, Walker remains one of Cox’s most daring works.
