Description
Murder In The Front Row: The San Francisco Bay Area Thrash Metal Story. In the early 1980's, a small group of dedicated Bay Area headbangers shunned the hard rock of MTV and Hollywood hairspray bands in favor of a more dangerous brand of metal that became known as thrash! From the tape trading network to the clubs to the record stores and fanzines, director Adam Dubin reveals how the scene nurtured the music and the music spawned a movement. Murder In The Front Row is told through powerful first person testimony and stunning animation and photography. The film is a social study of a group of young people defying the odds and building something essential for themselves. Featuring interviews with Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus, Testament, Death Angel, Possessed and many more! Narrated by Brian Posehn.

Description
The Possessed is a wonderfully atmospheric proto-giallo based on one of Italy’s most notorious crimes, the Alleghe killings, and adapted from the book on that case by acclaimed literary figure Giovanni Comisso. Peter Baldwin (The Ghost, The Weekend Murders) stars as Bernard, a depressed novelist who sets off in search of his old flame Tilde (Virna Lisi, La Reine Margot), a beautiful maid who works at a remote lakeside hotel. Bernard is warmly greeted by the hotel owner Enrico (Salvo Randone, Fellini's Satyricon) and his daughter Irma (Valentina Cortese, Thieves Highway, The Iguana with the Tongue of Fire), but Tilde has disappeared under suspicious circumstances. Bernard undertakes an investigation and is soon plunged into a disturbing drama of familial secrets, perversion, madness and murder... Co-written by Giulio Questi (Death Laid an Egg, Arcana) and co-directed by Luigi Bazzoni (The Fifth Cord, Footprints on the Moon), The Possessed masterfully combines film noir, mystery and giallo tropes, whilst also drawing on the formal innovations of 1960s art cinema (particularly the films of Michelangelo Antonioni). A uniquely dreamlike take on true crime, The Possessed is presented here in a stunning new restoration. Description
Academy Award winner Joan Crawford earned another Best Actress nomination for her tour-de-force performance in Possessed (1947) which opens with Crawford portraying a woman found wandering the streets of Los Angeles. Taken to a mental hospital, she weaves a harrowing tale of insanity, murder and the passion by which provides the basis for the film’s apt title. Louise Howell's (Crawford) psychiatrist learns that she is a nurse hired to care for a dying woman and that she rekindled a former romance with her patient's neighbor, David Sutton (Van Heflin). But the suicide of her charge and rejection by the man she loves drive Howell to madness--and murder. Or do they? Is Howell's harrowing story true or the misperception of a deranged mind? Is Howell guilty of murder or an innocent victim of something far more sinister? Directed by Curtis Bernhardt, the film features a superb performances from its impressive cast, all richly underscored by the music of the great Franz Waxman. Special Features: Commentary by Film Historian Drew Casper; Featurette: "Possessed: The Quintessential Film Noir"; Original Theatrical Trailer

Description
Joan Crawford stars as a factory girl with two ways out of poverty: brains and beauty. Using her wiles, in no time she's living on Park Avenue, draped in designer gowns, dripping in jewels, and cuddled up with a man who isn't her husband (Clark Gable). It's a scorching love match which mixes themes of greed, ambition, politics, and sex in a world where morals are in short supply. The sizzling chemistry between Gable & Crawford results in an unforgettable pre-code gem.
