Just out of high school, at the age of 18, Miles Lagoze enlisted in the Marine Corps. He was deployed to Afghanistan where he served as Combat Camera his unit s official videographer, tasked with shooting and editing footage for the Corps recruiting purposes and historical initiatives. But upon discharging, Lagoze took all the footage he and his fellow cameraman shot, and he assembled quite simply the very documentary the Corps does not want you to see. COMBAT OBSCURA is a groundbreaking look at daily life in a war zone as told by the Marines themselves. More than a mere compilation of violence, the edit ingeniously repurposes the original footage to reveal the intensity and paradoxes of an ambiguous war from an unvarnished perspective.

Two decades back, Sundance was stunned by DIG!, Ondi Timoner's landmark rock documentary following two Gen-X bands chasing alt-rock stardom. Filmed over almost ten years, it charts art versus commerce through the close friendship and fierce rivalry between The Dandy Warhols and The Brian Jonestown Massacre — the romances, obsessions, gigs, arrests, death threats, highs and lows on their climb toward mainstream success and their self-declared revolution in the music business. DIG! XX, an expanded and reimagined version of the original, shows why the first film became a classic — and why more can be better.

Mark Pellington's adaptation of Dan Wakefield's seminal novel about a young man coming of age in the 1950s is a timeless story of freedom and repression, friendship and family, sex and love, and the psychological and spiritual struggle to be true to one’s self even if it means going against society’s expectations. In his debut as a feature filmmaker, Pellington constructs an elegant and morally complex tale about two young high school alumni and Korean war veterans returning to their sheltered Indianapolis community, only to find they no longer fit in. As class¬mates, shy, artistic Sonny (distinctly portrayed by Jeremy Davies) and charming, popular Gunner (Ben Affleck in his first lead role) had nothing to do with one another, but now, in the stifling climate of Eisenhower America, where prejudice and paranoia rule the day, the two young men find in each other the strength to change their lives and futures. Each must choose between the suffocating, but familiar comforts offered to them by their mothers (Jill Clayburgh, Lesley Ann Warren) and their old flames and friends (Amy Locane, Nick Offerman), or the exciting, but uncertain futures represented by a pair of enthralling new romantic prospects (Rachel Weisz, Rose McGowan). Theirs is an emotionally fraught journey―especially for Sonny, who struggles with self-doubt and thoughts of suicide―but one leavened by moments of humor, uplift, and self-discovery. Originally released in 1997, the newly re-edited and restored version of GOING ALL THE WAY completely upends the original cut, hews closer to the source novel, and cements the film as one of the most aesthetically fresh and thematically fascinating films of the 90s, as well as a testament to the ever-evolving possibilities of cinematic rediscovery.

I love this movie. I loved the cats in this movie and I loved the people in this movie. I loved seeing how cats can live freely when a society accepts them. For too long cats have been treated as nothing more than a nuisance, which as a cat lover infuriates me, but where I love in the U.S. we are actually getting a lot better about it--we live in a community with pretty strict HOA regulations which everyone abides by, with the exception of one thing---feeding feral cats. Where we live was for hundreds of years farm land, when this area was heavily developed starting about 15 years ago all those barn cats found ways to adapt and stick around and as such we have a large population of feral cats all over the whole city. Even the neighbors who don't participate in TNR or even just feeding and watering the cats and who say they do not really like cats will also openly admit they like having them around because they take care of a lot of pests and as such don't have to pay for bug spraying around the perimeters of their homes anymore. So, it is interesting to see minds and behaviors change here in the U.S. In any case, I loved this movie and I loved how they showed the cats in a relatively safe level of outdoor freedom and I loved the people in the movie who respected and admired the cats for that but still showed great concern and care and love for their cat friends.

Product Description Filmed in Dominique Abel and Fiona Gordon s signature whimsical style, LOST IN PARIS stars the filmmakers as a small-town Canadian librarian and a strangely seductive, oddly egotistical French vagabond. When Fiona s (Gordon) orderly life is disrupted by a letter of distress from her elderly Aunt Martha (Academy Award®-nominee Emmanuelle Riva) who is living in Paris, Fiona hops on the first plane she can and arrives only to discover that Martha has disappeared. In an avalanche of spectacular disasters, she encounters Dom (Abel), the affable, but annoying tramp who just won t leave her alone. LOST IN PARIS is a wondrously fun and hectic tale of peculiar people finding love while lost in the City of Lights. Review In a world where comedy has gone raunchy, we ll always have Paris which has seldom been funnier or more charming than as seen through burlesque duo Abel and Gordon s eyes. --Variety It s like a Jean-Pierre Jeunet farce on Xanax, with a soothing dose of Wes Anderson whimsy for good measure. --LA Times

The most complete restoration of legendary director Nicholas Ray's 1973 experimental masterpiece, made with his college students in upstate New York, WE CAN'T GO HOME AGAIN embodies Ray's approach to filmmaking as a "communal way of life." Ray plays himself in the film, serving as mentor, friend, and reference point around whom his students' stories of love, sex rebellion, and lost innocence constellate. Exhibiting Ray's groundbreaking use of multiple-image storytelling and dramatic colorization, the film takes an anthological angle on recording the "history, progress, manners, morals, and mores of everyday life" at a critical moment in 1970s America. DON'T EXPECT TOO MUCH, a feature-length documentary by Nicholas Ray's wife Susan, investigates the making of WE CAN'T GO HOME AGAIN and the complex relationships within Ray's life and art. Drawing on his archive of never-before-seen film, video, and stills, as well as new interviews with directors Jim Jarmusch, Victor Erice, Ray's students, and others, Susan Ray provides a compelling and unparalleled exploration of the revered American auteur.
