Description
Conquest of Space Retro sets, atmospheric music and an action-packed story are the highlights of this enthralling sci-fi adventure. The commander of a flight to Mars endangers his crew when he gradually becomes obsessed with their precedent-setting space journey, cracks under pressure, and tries to sabotage the mission. Produced by innovative, Oscar®-winning filmmaker George Pal (The War of the Worlds, The Time Machine) and directed by Academy Award® winner Byron Haskin (Treasure Island, Robinson Crusoe On Mars), this space-exploration odyssey vividly illustrates the premise that no matter how advanced science becomes…human weaknesses remain. I Married a Monster from Outer Space Something is amiss with the menfolk in this classic 1950s sci-fi thriller. A distraught Marge Farrell (Gloria Talbott, We're No Angels) is growing increasingly alarmed over the changes in her new husband Bill (Tom Tryon, The Cardinal), who's been acting strangely ever since their wedding night. And for good reason: Bill – and most of the men in their small town—have been taken over by sinister aliens who have arrived on planet Earth to marry human women with the hope of reviving their dying race. Marge has stumbled onto their terrifying plan and must now convince someone—anyone—to believe her…before the aliens completely inhabit the bodies of the entire male population! Description
Action director Don Siegel (Dirty Harry, Invasion of the Body Snatchers) directs this fast-paced western with beloved character actors Edgar Buchanan and Jack Elam supporting the action. Sheriff Les Martin (Cornel Wilde, The Naked Prey, Leave Her to Heaven) is puzzled in his investigation of three mysterious murders near the Grand Canyon. Lacking any clues, Les enlists his girlfriend Janice Kendon (Victoria Shaw, The Eddy Duchin Story), daughter of a retired mine owner, and bartender Scotty O'Brien (Mickey Shaughnessy) to help with the case. When Janice's brother, Bob (Rian Garrick), leads Les and Janice to a rendezvous with an associate in the middle of it all, Sheriff Martin is drawn into a dangerous -- and deadly -- chase high above the Grand Canyon's floor. Description
Product Description Jailhouse Rock (BD) Amazon.com Elvis Presley's third and best film is this musical romp released in 1957, just as the Big "E" was reaching the peak of his hip-swiveling pre-army success. Filmed in ultra-cool black and white, the movie stars Elvis as a good ol' boy who saves a woman from an assault but kills her attacker, so he's convicted of manslaughter and sent to jail. While doing time he takes up the guitar and becomes a singing sensation, ready for the big time when he's finally released. He becomes a big star but his inflated ego gets him into trouble with his former cellmate and his new girlfriend. Short on plot but heavy on rock & roll, this EP classic features such hit songs as "Treat Me Nice," "Baby, I Don't Care," "Don't Leave Me Now," and, of course, the classic title song, performed in an elaborate jailhouse number that Elvis choreographed himself. This is Elvis in all his big-screen glory, and the movie's upbeat ending made it a huge success during its original release. --Jeff Shannon
