Description

Robert Bresson’s masterpiece of cinematic tension, A Man Escaped, follows the harrowing true story of a French Resistance fighter imprisoned by the Gestapo during World War II. Facing a looming death sentence in the supposedly impenetrable Montluc fortress, he relies on unwavering resolve and the repurposing of everyday objects to methodically fashion a way out. Renowned for its rigorous attention to detail, ascetic visual style, and revolutionary use of sound, this quintessential prison-break thriller remains one of the most gripping and influential works of French cinema.
