Disc 1 (the 4K UHD disc) contains the film in 4K UHD in two cuts — the original theatrical version and the Composer's Cut with Fabio Frizzi's reimagined score — both presented in Dolby Vision. The set's remaining discs (3 Blu-rays, the 7 Doors of Death bonus DVD and the soundtrack CD) are not part of this product. Liza Merril inherits a rundown Louisiana hotel and begins renovating it, unaware the building stands over one of the seven gateways to Hell. As workers die in bizarre accidents and the dead begin to rise, she and a local doctor confront an ancient evil breaking through into the world of the living. Lucio Fulci's surreal gore classic piles on crucifixions, acid meltdowns, flesh-eating spiders and zombie hordes in a dreamlike descent into damnation.

In 1970, 20th Century-Fox, impressed by the visual zing King of the Nudies Russ Meyer (Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!) brought to bargain-basement exploitation fare, handed the director a studio budget and the title to one of its biggest hits, Valley of the Dolls. With a satirical screenplay by Roger Ebert, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls follows three young female rockers going Hollywood in hell-bent sixties style under the spell of a flamboyant producer whose decadent bashes showcase Meyer s trademark libidinal exuberance. Transgressive and outrageous, this big-studio version of a debaucherous midnight movie is an addictively entertaining romp from one of the movies great outsider artists. BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION FEATURES - High-definition digital restoration, with uncompressed monaural soundtrack - Audio commentary from 2003 featuring screenwriter Roger Ebert - Audio commentary from 2006 featuring actors Dolly Read, Cynthia Myers, Harrison Page, John La Zar, and Erica Gavin - New interview with filmmaker John Waters - Archival interviews with writer, director, and producer Russ Meyer - Q&A about the film from 1992 featuring Meyer, Ebert, La Zar, Read, and actors David Gurian, Charles Napier, Michael Blodgett, and Edy Williams - Above, Beneath, and Beyond the Valley; Look On Up at the Bottom; The Best of Beyond; Sex, Drugs, Music and Murder; and Casey & Roxanne, five documentaries from 2006 about the making of the film, featuring the cast and crew - Trailers and TV spots - More! - PLUS: An essay by film critic Glenn Kenny

Description

After the comparatively serious THE SEVEN MINUTES and BLACK SNAKE, Russ Meyer's 1975 return to form — written, photographed, edited, produced and directed by Meyer himself — may be his most outrageous and entertaining film of all. When a fiery wife (Shari Eubank) crosses paths with a psychotic police officer (a startling turn by Charles Napier), it sets off a cross-country odyssey of violence, vengeance and nonstop sex. John Lazar, Uschi Digard and Haji co-star in what Empire called Meyer's super-sexy live-action Road Runner cartoon, restored by Severin Films with The Russ Meyer Trust and scanned in 4K from the original negative held at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
