Description
Mark Pellington's adaptation of Dan Wakefield's seminal novel about a young man coming of age in the 1950s is a timeless story of freedom and repression, friendship and family, sex and love, and the psychological and spiritual struggle to be true to one’s self even if it means going against society’s expectations. In his debut as a feature filmmaker, Pellington constructs an elegant and morally complex tale about two young high school alumni and Korean war veterans returning to their sheltered Indianapolis community, only to find they no longer fit in. As class¬mates, shy, artistic Sonny (distinctly portrayed by Jeremy Davies) and charming, popular Gunner (Ben Affleck in his first lead role) had nothing to do with one another, but now, in the stifling climate of Eisenhower America, where prejudice and paranoia rule the day, the two young men find in each other the strength to change their lives and futures. Each must choose between the suffocating, but familiar comforts offered to them by their mothers (Jill Clayburgh, Lesley Ann Warren) and their old flames and friends (Amy Locane, Nick Offerman), or the exciting, but uncertain futures represented by a pair of enthralling new romantic prospects (Rachel Weisz, Rose McGowan). Theirs is an emotionally fraught journey―especially for Sonny, who struggles with self-doubt and thoughts of suicide―but one leavened by moments of humor, uplift, and self-discovery. Originally released in 1997, the newly re-edited and restored version of GOING ALL THE WAY completely upends the original cut, hews closer to the source novel, and cements the film as one of the most aesthetically fresh and thematically fascinating films of the 90s, as well as a testament to the ever-evolving possibilities of cinematic rediscovery.

Product Description LOVE MADE THEM CRAZY. GUNS MADE THEM OUTLAWS. Since Anita Minteer (Drew Barrymore, 50 First Dates) was nine, every man she ever met has wanted only one thing. But when she becomes pen-pals with imprisoned convict Howard Hickock (James LeGros, Drugstore Cowboy), she gains self-confidence and sees a possible escape from the torment of her everyday life. Howard's infatuation with guns drives Anita to them as well. But with this new found strength in her hands, she murders her sexually abusive guardian. Now with Howard out on parole and the police on their back, there can be no turning back. In the style of BONNIE & CLYDE, GUNCRAZY tells the story of two young lovers on the run from the law. GUNCRAZY marks the directorial debut of Tamra Davis (Crossroads, Billy Madison) with a Golden Globe® nominated performance by Drew Barrymore and an all-star supporting cast that includes Jeremy Davies (Saving Private Ryan), Rodney Harvey (My Own Private Idaho), Michael Ironside (Top Gun), Ione Skye (Say Anything…) and Billy Drago (The Untouchables). SPECIAL FEATURES: High Definition (1080p) presentation of the main feature in 1.78:1 aspect ratio Audio: English 2.0 LPCM Stereo, 5.1 Surround Mix, Spanish 2.0 Stereo English and Spanish Subtitles Audio Commentary from director Tamra Davis and star Drew Barrymore NEW! “The Making of Guncrazy” (HD, 88:57) NEW! “Portrait of a Director: Tamra Davis” (HD, 39:12) 5 Behind the Scenes Clips on the Set of ‘Guncrazy’ (SD) “The Making of Guncrazy” Original 1992 featurette (SD, 19:39) 2 Theatrical Trailers (SD) Reversible sleeve Collectible Mini-Poster Review Set against the kind of down-at-heel trailer park rarely seen in recent American cinema, this powerful and unexpectedly good low-budgeter seems decades away from the staple wish-fulfillment fantasy of most 90s teen movies. Rooted in the ambiguously doomed 70s spirit of Badlands or Thieves Like Us, with a few Thelma & Louise licks thrown in for good measure, this has a title no doubt intentionally identical to Gun Crazy, the 1949 offering that, along with They Live By Night, inaugurated the killer couple-on-the-road movie. Anita (Barrymore), a dirt-poor schoolgirl , enters into a remarkably pure but dangerous relationship with pen-pal James Le Gros, a gun-happy and none-too-bright convict. After learning how to use a gun in preparation for her first meeting with her dream guy, Anita murders her mother's sexually abusive boyfriend (Dallesandro) almost for the practice, and when her paroled man comes to town, circumstances force them into further killing. In Bonnie And Clyde mode, the well-intentioned outlaws (when they try to rob a bar, the customers plead poverty and the pair feel obliged to give back the money) dash across country to find Anita's mother, a junkie hooker. The downbeat storyline is familiar right to the gloomy ending, but the script is tough and gritty and all the supporting cast are excellent. Michael Ironside and Billy Drago, usually seen as psycho villains, here show they can act, as a probation officer and a snake-handling preacher respectively, while lone Skye turns in another weirdly stoned cameo as Ironside's airhead daughter. Director Davis does especially good work with the pouting Barrymore, who successfully broke into the adult phase of her career. Tough and gritty, and featuring Barrymore's graduation from teen starlet to can-act movie star, Guncrazy has much to recommend it. --Kim Newman, Empire Excellent screenplay... Director Tamra Davis has made a remarkably rich melodrama with a strong narrative line and vivid characters... Very accomplished... cruelly entertaining... ''Guncrazy'' pays homage to its predecessors while also sending them up. --Vincent Canby, The New York Times Top About this item Similar From the Brand Reviews Guncrazy: Collector's Edition [Blu-ray]

Description
The true, decades-spanning tale of the greatest fan film ever made. After Steven Spielberg's classic Raiders of the Lost Ark was released 35 years ago, three 11-year-old boys from Mississippi set out on what would become a 7-year-long labor of love and tribute to their favorite film: a faithful, shot-for-shot adaptation of the action adventure film. They finished every scene... except one; the film's explosive airplane set piece. Over two decades later, the trio reunited with the original cast members from their childhood in order to complete their masterpiece. Featuring interviews with John Rhys Davies, Eli Roth and more, Raiders! Is the story of the project's culmination, chronicling the friends' dedication to their artistic vision-mixed in with some movie magic-to create the greatest fan film ever made.
