Oscar® winner* Robert Duvall (The Godfather, Apocalypse Now) writes, directs and stars in Assassination Tango, a “part gritty crime thriller, part dance-driven romance, part evocative character study” (The Hollywood Reporter) set in Argentina. Duvall plays John J., a hitman sent to Buenos Aires to carry out the assassination of a prominent general who finds himself with time on his hands while waiting for his target to appear. John is drawn to the beautiful Manuela (Luciana Pedraza, Wild Horses), a dancer who introduces him to the art of the tango, a sensual distraction that could prove to be his downfall. Assassination Tango also features Kathy Baker (The Cider House Rules, TV’s Picket Fences) and Rubén Blades (The Counselor, Once Upon a Time in Mexico) in supporting performances. * 1983, Best Actor, Tender Mercies" DIRECTOR: Robert Duval ACTORS: Robert Duvall, Ruben Blades, Kathy Baker, Luciana Pedraza, Julio Oscar Mechoso, James Keane FEATURES: Rating: R Genre: Action Year of Release: 2003 Run Time: 114 Minutes Region: A Subtitles:ENGLISH Original Langauge: ENGLISH Discs: 1 Aspect Ratio: 1.85:1 Video Color Assassination Tango

*This listing is for the standard edition version and does NOT come with a limited edition slipcase!* TAKE A SPIN WITH THE FREEWAY KILLER. The Los Angeles Freeway Killer takes a drive to Las Vegas—and back. This video by Ken Camp is both trancelike and troubling, taking the viewer across the desert of California, through Nevada, and into “the frightening zone where lay the genetic codes and memories that make us all killers.” Unseen since its 1984 premiere at West Hollywood’s EZTV Video Gallery, Ken Camp’s HIGHWAY HYPNOSIS is a disturbing meditation on the eroticism of violence and a major work of both narrative video art and queer horror. Plus, in Ken Camp's AS THE WORLD BURNS: It’s the Reagan years… and all of the men in the neighborhood are mysteriously beginning to turn gay. As Robin’s terminally unemployed husband Lenny begins shifting his attention away from the job hunt and towards the local trade(smen), she finds herself having to hit the streets to bring home the bacon. Meanwhile, Lorraine’s husband Ben has mysteriously gone missing and Linnea just can’t seem to find anyone who’ll let her borrow a cup of detergent. And what role does the Gay Neighbor play in all of this? Commissioned by videomaker John Dorr for EZTV’s inaugural screenings at the West Hollywood Community Center in 1982, AS THE WORLD BURNS is an experimental three-part gay soap opera that was made using early consumer video equipment for the low cost of just $75.88 (the 88 cents were for the special effects). A wickedly funny satire on the narrative and aesthetic conventions of soaps, the banality of mainstream gay culture, and America’s rightward shift at the turn of the 80s, AS THE WORLD BURNS is also perhaps the very first piece of media to explicitly reference the nascent AIDS epidemic. Bonus Features: 1. New digital transfers of HIGHWAY HYPNOSIS and AS THE WORLD BURNS from their original 3/4”, Beta, and VHS masters 2. New restorations of THE SECRET LIFE OF PATTY HEARST (1976) and SHOCK VIDEO (1985) from their Super 8 camera reversals 3. Audio commentaries with videomaker Ken Camp 4. Outtakes and behind-the-scenes footage 5. Booklet with writing by queer film and video historian KJ Shepherd Top Similar From the Brand Questions Reviews Highway Hypnosis [Blu-ray] Highway Hypnosis
