Description
Following the closing arguments in a murder trial, the twelve members of the jury must deliberate, with a guilty verdict meaning death for the accused, an inner-city teen. As the dozen men try to reach a unanimous decision while sequestered in a solitary, sweltering room, one juror (Henry Fonda, The Ox-Bow Incident) casts considerable doubt on elements of the case. Personal issues soon rise to the surface, and conflict threatens to derail the delicate process that will decide one boy’s fate. In addition to Fonda (who also co-produced with writer Reginald Rose), the cast includes Lee J. Cobb as his main opposition; Ed Begley as a hateful bigot; E.G. Marshall as a cold, logical stockbroker; Jack Warden as a baseball fanatic and Jack Klugman as the disturbed blood-brother to the defendant. The feature directing debut of Sidney Lumet (Serpico, The Verdict), 12 Angry Men remains “one of the best pictures ever made” (The Hollywood Reporter), a searing examination of race, justice, family and morality. Special Features: DISC 1 (4K UHD): • Brand New HDR/Dolby Vision Master – From a New 4K Scan of the Original Camera Negative • NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian/Screenwriter Gary Gerani • Audio Commentary by Film Historian Drew Casper • Triple-Layered UHD100 Disc • Optional English Subtitles DISC 2 (Blu-ray): • 12 ANGRY MEN – 1997 Film Directed by William Friedkin and Starring Jack Lemmon • BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT: Making of 12 Angry Men • INSIDE THE JURY ROOM: Featurette • Theatrical Trailer • Dual-Layered BD50 Disc • Optional English Subtitles

From filmmaker and nightmare-conjurer E. Elias Merhige (Begotten, Shadow of the Vampire) comes a visionary twist on the psychological suspense-thriller. When tortured FBI agent Thomas Mackelway (Aaron Eckhart, The Dark Knight) is called in to investigate a series of bizarre murders, the trail leads to the enigmatic Benjamin O’Ryan (Ben Kingsley, Sexy Beast). Trained in a secret government program (enabling elite agents to telepathically get into the minds of killers), O’Ryan himself is hunting down what he has labeled the ultimate serial killer and manifestation of evil—Suspect Zero. Mackelway, now reunited with his former partner (Carrie-Anne Moss, The Matrix), must determine if O’Ryan’s ability to identify with the murderers has turned him into the very same type of monster he is trying to bring to justice. Featuring cinematography by Michael Chapman (Taxi Driver, Invasion of the Body Snatchers), Suspect Zero is a “stunningly original” and “audacious” (Los Angeles Times) glimpse into the heart and mind of evil. Nudie-Cuties were popular in grindhouse theaters in the early 1960’s but they were eventually replaced with more explicit fare. 3-D was a natural for this genre with such titillating promises as “A girl in your lap” and “They dance right off the screen into your arms.” For The 3-D Nudie-Cutie Collection the 3-D Film Archive has restored two rare features from this era of sexploitation. The Bellboy and the Playgirls (1962) stars June “The Bosom” Wilkinson and includes new scenes directed by 22-year-old Francis Ford Coppola, including a finale in “The New Depth Perception.” Adam and Six Eves (1962) was filmed with the venerable Natural Vision camera rig in 1962 but was never released in 3-D. We also present two Golden Age 3-D short subjects: Love for Sale (1953) features the gorgeous Bella Starr and Beauty in 3rd Dimension is a newly curated collection of Figure Studies in Kodachrome Stereo from 1951. Keir Dullea (2001: A Space Odyssey, David and Lisa, Blind Date) and John Huston (Chinatown, Tentacles, Winter Kills) star in this film about the man who made an errant realm his own: the notorious Marquis de Sade. “Man is not seduced to evil, he is evil.” This is the creed of de Sade, and he reaffirms it daily as he exacts his sexual pleasure from the tender flesh of the women of France. But he was not always a purveyor of corruption and depravity. He was once a young boy—honest, innocent…and about to become the victim of another’s perverse brutality. Written by legendary horror/fantasy scribe Richard Matheson (The Pit and the Pendulum, The Last Man on Earth), directed by Cy Endfield (Zulu, Sands of the Kalahari) and co-starring Senta Berger (Cast a Giant Shadow, Diabolically Yours) and Lilli Palmer (Body and Soul, The Boys from Brazil), De Sade is one of the most distinguished, daring and devious films to come out of the sixties. Description
From Billy Wilder, the legendary director of Five Graves to Cairo, Double Indemnity, Some Like It Hot, Irma La Douce and The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes comes this classic comedy that mixes romance with hard-boiled wit in a story about stiff-necked Iowa congresswoman Phoebe Frost (Jean Arthur, Easy Living) mired in jaded postwar Berlin. As she investigates the morale of American troops, she is cynically wooed by fellow Iowan Captain John Pringle (John Lund, The Mating Season), who is trying to cover up his affair with Nazi-tainted chanteuse Erika von Schlütow (Marlene Dietrich, Witness for the Prosecution). In this often amusing and forever endearing film, Wilder peppers the love story with tart dialogue and satiric jabs at Midwestern naïveté. A Foreign Affair features the wonderful character actor Millard Mitchell (Singin’ in the Rain) as Colonel Rufus J. Plummer. Brand New 2K Master! The great Jason Robards (The Day After) recreates his Broadway role as the iconoclastic Murray Burns in A Thousand Clowns. Murray is funny, feisty, compassionate and very determined to have nothing to do with the lemming-like rush-hour world. Released when workday lifestyles went largely unchallenged, this inventive comedy-drama gleefully speaks to the nonconformist in us all. Martin Balsam (After the Fox), Gene Saks (The Prisoner of Second Avenue) and John McMartin (Sweet Charity) co-star in this classic film directed by Fred Coe (Me, Natalie) with a screenplay by Herb Gardner (Who Is Harry Kellerman and Why Is He Saying Those Terrible Things About Me?) based on his own play. From Joseph Losey, the legendary director of The Prowler, The Criminal, Modesty Blaise, Secret Ceremony and Figures in a Landscape, comes this classic melodrama with a screenplay by the great Harold Pinter (The Birthday Party, The Pumpkin Eater, The Homecoming). When one of his students is killed in a car accident, an Oxford professor (Dirk Bogarde, The Mind Benders) recounts the circumstances of their meeting. But as these turbulent memories unfold, they reveal a series of shocking relationships betrayed by adultery, obsession and self-destruction in which nothing is what it seems and everything has its cost. Accident was the second of three brilliant collaborations between filmmaker Losey and playwright Pinter; the first was the 1963 masterpiece The Servant and the third, the 1971 classic The Go-Between. Stanley Baker (Robbery), Michael York (Something for Everyone), Vivien Merchant (The Maids), Jacqueline Sassard (Les Biches), Delphine Seyrig (Last Year at Marienbad), Alexander Knox (Wilson) and Freddie Jones (Juggernaut) co-star in this stunning 1967 drama that Newsweek called “like a punch in the chest.” Based on a novel by Nicholas Mosley (The Assassination of Trotsky) and beautifully shot by Gerry Fisher (Man on Fire, The Offence). Lotte Reiniger s enchanting 1926 animated masterpiece The Adventures of Prince Achmed is all about magic from the flying horse our hero rides into a series of wondrous adventures to the glorious phoenix who removes her plumage to reveal that she is the Princess Peri Banu of Wak Wak in disguise. Throw in Aladdin and his magic lamp, an evil sorcerer, a caliph, an emperor, demons, and a powerful witch of the fiery mountains and you have a timeless story of love, jealousy, revenge, and transformation. Africa Screams (Special Limited Edition) Africa Screams looks stunning in this new 4K restoration from original 35mm nitrate film elements! During the 1940s, the comedy team of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were among Universal's top moneymakers, and, by the end of the decade, were allowed to make one independent film per year. Hot off the success of Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, Bud and Lou teamed up with independent producer Edward Nassour to release Africa Screams--a hilarious jungle romp where the boys hightail it to the dark continent and encounter wild beasts, dangerous natives, and... an affectionate gorilla! Department store clerks Buzz Johnson and Stanley Livington (Bud and Lou) are hired by treasure hunter Diana Emerson (Hillary Brooke, The Abbott and Costello Show) for an African expedition when it is believed Stanley has memorized a map that will lead her to a rare orangutan. It's all a cover, of course, as Diana is really after a secret trove of diamonds and is counting on Stanley's memory to guide her to the treasure. Charles Barton directs Africa Screams which features an array of supporting players: real-life big-game hunter Frank ' 'Bring 'em back alive ' ' Buck, real-life circus owner/animal trainer Clyde Beatty, Shemp Howard, Joe Besser, as well as heavyweight boxing brothers Buddy and Max Baer. Hollywood legends Errol Flynn (Captain Blood, The Sea Hawk), Maureen O’Hara (The Black Swan, Lisbon) and Anthony Quinn (Zorba the Greek, The World in His Arms) team for a swashbuckling adventure in Against All Flags. Onboard a 1700s merchant ship, determined British naval officer Lieutenant Brian Hawke (Flynn) bravely endures twenty lashes with the intent of using the wounds to help him go undercover on the pirate island of Libertania. Once there, however, Hawke is brought before the colony’s head pirates, the Captains of the Coast, and forced to prove himself in a fight to the death.
