Description
One Million B.C. is a 1940 American historical epic fantasy film produced by Hal Roach Studios and released by United Artists. Boy meets girl - prehistoric style, in this classic of man's battle to survive against the terrors of the prehistoric world. Dinosaurs, savage nature and man and a gigantic erupting volcano are part of the camp adventure classic. Big-chested Victor Mature stars as protagonist Tumak, a young caveman who strives to unite the uncivilized Rock Tribe and the peaceful Shell Tribe, Carole Landis as Loana, daughter of the Shell Tribe chief and Tumak's love interest, and Lon Chaney, Jr. as Tumak's stern father and leader of the Rock Tribe. Chaney's billing differs from that of his home studio Universal Pictures in that Hal Roach elected to retain the Jr. instead of billing him under his father's name, possibly because Roach was co-directing the film with his own son Hal Roach, Jr. The film was the top grossing movie of 1940 and was nominated for two Academy Awards for its special effects and musical score. Description
Labor and management at the Sleeptite Pajama Factory aren't sleeping much lately: A proposed 7 1 2-cent hourly wage increase is why -- and a strike may result. But negotiations here involve snappy stars, terrific tunes and dynamic dances as Doris Day, John Raitt and a Broadway-seasoned cast play The Pajama Game. Songs by the Damn Yankees duo of Richard Adler and Jerry Ross and choreography by Bob Fosse generate lots of "Steam Heat," all whipped together delightfully under the direction of two musical masters of stage and screen, George Abbott and Stanley Donen. Besides "Steam Heat" (showcasing the quirky brilliance of dancer Carol Haney), catch "Hey There," "I'm Not at All in Love," "Hernando's Hideaway," "Once-a-Year Day" and other all-time-great numbers. For peerless entertainment, negotiate no further. Nothing's quite the same as The Pajama Game!

Product Description The credits dub this "the maddest story ever told", a promise that's well on the way to being fulfilled in the opening scene alone, when Virginia traps and kills a hapless deliveryman in her makeshift web. She's one of three siblings who suffer from a unique genetic disorder that causes them to regress back to childhood, while retaining the physical strength and sexual maturity of adults. Lon Chaney Jr gave one of his most memorable late performances as Bruno, their guardian and protector, who has managed to cover up their crimes until two distant relatives lay claim to their house. When they insist on moving in, Bruno has to cross his fingers and hope that the 'children' behave towards their new guests... This was the first solo feature by Jack Hill, whom Quentin Tarantino dubbed "the Howard Hawks of exploitation filmmaking", and it remains one of his wildest and weirdest. Review A near perfect blend of gothic horror and black humour, Spider Baby is certainly one of the weirdest flicks to come out of the post-Psycho early '60s. --Terror Trap
