Description
From Robert Siodmak, the brilliant director of The Suspect, The Spiral Staircase, The Killers, Cry of the City, Criss Cross and Deported, comes this lush, noir-tinged melodrama set in 19th-century New England. Phyllis Calvert (The Man in Grey, Indiscreet) is young housekeeper Kate Fernald, who falls in love with Christopher Fortune, played by Robert Hutton (The Steel Helmet, They Came from Beyond Space). Christopher is a wealthy ship captain’s son who would rather study music than the sea. Aware that their union is not to be, Kate renounces her true love and encourages him to wed someone from his own social class. As the years go by, Kate is the mute witness to Christopher’s frustration and unhappiness, culminating in a fatal bout with alcohol. Ella Raines (Phantom Lady, The Web) is stunning as Christopher’s “sensible” sister Rissa, while Eddie Albert (Attack!), Leo G. Carroll (Spellbound), Helena Carter (Invaders from Mars) and John Abbott (Gambit) also give stellar performances in this sumptuous adaptation of the acclaimed novel by Rachel Field (All This, and Heaven Too). Special Features: -Brand New 2K Master -NEW Audio Commentary by Author/Film Historian Lee Gambin and Costume Historian Elissa Rose -Trailers -Optional English Subtitles

In a bizarre blending of art and politics, the 1912 Titanic disaster was turned by German filmmakers-working under the watchful eye of Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels-into a drama filled with attacks on British society, some fictitious German crew members, and an anti-capitalism theme. Footage of the liner's sinking was later swiped for 1958's "A Night to Remember." Hans Nielsen, Sybille Schmitz, Otto Wernicke star. 85 min. Standard; Soundtrack: German; Subtitles: English; newsreel footage; photo gallery; theatrical trailer; White Star Line promotional film. In German with English subtitles.

William Petersen (Manhunter, TV’s CSI) and Willem Dafoe (Platoon, Mississippi Burning) face off in a deadly game of cat and mouse in this riveting action-thriller directed by cinema legend William Friedkin (The French Connection, The Exorcist, Sorcerer). Full of style and grit, this raw tale of corruption and revenge boasts one of the most harrowing car chases ever caught on film and a shockingly explosive ending. Federal agent Richard Chance (Petersen) has a score to settle, and he’s through playing by the rules. Whether that means blackmailing a beautiful parolee, disobeying direct orders or hurtling the wrong way down a crowded freeway, he vows to take down a murderous counterfeiter (Dafoe) by any means necessary. But as the stakes grow higher, will Chance’s dark obsession with vengeance destroy him? The ultimate ’80s neo-noir, To Live and Die in L.A. features John Pankow, Debra Feuer, John Turturro, Darlanne Fluegel and Dean Stockwell, with cinematography by Robby Müller (Paris, Texas) that captures the City of Angels from the trendy elegance of Rodeo Drive to the seedy, neon glow of Hollywood. The wonderful cast includes Susan Clark (Valdez Is Coming), Barry Sullivan (Planet of the Vampires), John Vernon (The Outlaw Josey Wales) and Charles McGraw (The Narrow Margin). Description
This collection includes three classic comedies starring screen legend Tony Curtis. THE PERFECT FURLOUGH (1958) From Blake Edwards, the acclaimed director of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Pink Panther, A Shot in the Dark, The Great Race, The Party and Victor Victoria, comes this romantic comedy starring screen legends Tony Curtis (The Great Impostor) and Janet Leigh (The Vikings). In The Perfect Furlough, the fun begins when the Army’s top brass meet to discuss the morale problems occurring at an outpost in the remote Arctic. It seems that the 104 bachelors stationed there for the past seven months are going utterly stir crazy. Military psychologist Lieutenant Vicki Loren (Leigh) proposes a solution: one lucky guy will receive a perfect furlough, complete with exotic destinations and a beautiful movie star. Much to the psychologist’s chagrin, a scheming corporal (Curtis) with a personnel file that reads like a stag movie rigs the raffle and wins the trip. So, it’s off to Paris for three weeks of fun and romance—and constant supervision by Lieutenant Loren and a pack of Hollywood press agents who are fighting to keep both the Army’s and the movie star’s reputations intact. But things get really complicated when the lieutenant finds herself falling for the hot-blooded corporal. Sharply written by Stanley Shapiro (Pillow Talk) and co-starring Keenan Wynn (Dr. Strangelove), Linda Cristal (Mr. Majestyk) and Elaine Stritch (Monster-in-Law). THE GREAT IMPOSTOR (1960) From Robert Mulligan, the outstanding director of To Kill a Mockingbird, Love with the Proper Stranger, Baby the Rain Must Fall, Summer of ’42 and The Nickel Ride, comes this wild account of the world’s greatest big-time masquerader, Ferdinand Waldo Demara Jr. (Tony Curtis, The Perfect Furlough). The incredible but true story tells of how the untrained, uneducated yet brilliant young man assumes the identity of a college professor, Trappist monk, prison warden and surgeon in the Canadian Navy. Always one step ahead of exposure, Demara attempts to outwit and outrun the FBI, the police, a priest and several girlfriends. Mixing suspense with humor, The Great Impostor was beautifully shot by Robert Burks (To Catch a Thief), features a wonderful score by the great Henry Mancini (Charade) and co-stars Karl Malden (Billion Dollar Brain), Edmond O’Brien (The Hitch-Hiker), Arthur O’Connell (Man of the West), Gary Merrill (Witness to Murder), Joan Blackman (Visit to a Small Planet), Raymond Massey (Reap the Wild Wind) and Jeanette Nolan (Macbeth). 40 POUNDS OF TROUBLE (1962) From Norman Jewison, the legendary director of The Russians Are Coming! The Russians Are Coming!, In the Heat of the Night, The Thomas Crown Affair, Fiddler on the Roof, A Soldier’s Story and Moonstruck, comes this classic comedy starring Tony Curtis (The Great Impostor). After escaping from his greedy ex-wife in California, savvy Lake Tahoe hotel/casino manager Steve McCluskey (Curtis) has had enough of women. His sabbatical is sabotaged, however, when hotel owner Bernie Friedman (Phil Silvers, Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell) orders him to chaperone the venue’s new headliner, Friedman’s beautiful niece Chris (Suzanne Pleshette, Support Your Local Gunfighter). As if that’s not enough, McCluskey inherits a pint-sized problem in young Penny (Claire Wilcox, Wives and Lovers), a five-year-old recently abandoned by her debt-ridden father. Soon charmed by his two charges, he risks crossing the Nevada border to take them to Disneyland. It’s not long before the incognito trio is discovered by his ex’s detectives and a wild chase through the park’s attractions begins. Written by Marion Hargrove (The Music Man) based on the story “Little Miss Marker” and featuring a hilarious cast that includes Larry Storch (TV’s F Troop), Howard Morris (High Anxiety), Stubby Kaye (Guys and Dolls), Mary Murphy (A Man Alone), Edward Andrews (Send Me No Flowers), Karen Steele (Ride Lonesome), Kevin McCarthy (Invasion of the Body Snatchers) and Warren Stevens (Madame X). 40 Pounds of Trouble, the first feature film ever to be shot in (and above) Disneyland, is an irresistible romantic comedy and a treat for the whole family. Special Features: -NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian David Del Valle (The Perfect Furlough) -NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian Kat Ellinger (The Great Imposter) -NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historians Kat Ellinger and Mike McPadden (40 Pounds of Trouble) -Theatrical Trailers -Optional English Subtitles

Product Description Cosmo Topper, shy, stuffed-shirt banker, finds his humdrum, stuck-in-a-rut life turned topsy-turvy when his path crosses that of two very fun-loving ghosts, George and Marian Kirby. The wacky ghosts, killed in an automobile accident, are earth-bound until they perform a good deed. They've decided on Topper as the object of their assistance, setting out to bring some excitement and zip into his life. The result is bedlam, a near-end to Topper's marriage and utter hilarity for the viewer. Cary Grant and Constance Bennett are the mad-cap Kirby's, while Roland Young created a masterful characterization as the bewildered and haunted Topper, a role he would repeat in two more films. Look for Hedda Hopper and Hoagy Carmichael among the players in this classic comedy-fantasy spiced with the special Hal Roach touch. Review Cary Grant and Constance Bennett, as the reincarnated Kerbys, do their assignments with great skill. --Variety Cary Grant and Constance Bennett are Thorne Smith's continental ghosts, haranguing tired businessman Roland Young in arch screwball style. --Dave Kehr, Chicago Reader Too gentle and leisurely to survive as a solid classic, though there's pleasure to be found in the cast's graceful way with comedy and their smooth ensemble playing. --Geoff Andrew, Time Out Top Similar From the Brand Reviews Topper

Directed by Hollywood legend Orson Welles (Citizen Kane, The Stranger, The Lady from Shanghai), Touch of Evil is a film noir masterpiece whose Hollywood backstory is as unforgettable as the movie itself. Starring Charlton Heston (The Big Country, Ben-Hur), Janet Leigh (The Manchurian Candidate, Psycho) and Welles himself, this dark portrait of corruption and morally compromised obsessions tells the story of a crooked police chief who frames a Mexican youth as part of an intricate criminal plot. With its iconic ticking-bomb opening shot, shadowy cinematography by Russell Metty (Spartacus), evocative score by Henry Mancini (Arabesque) and memorable supporting turns by Akim Tamiroff (The General Died at Dawn) and Marlene Dietrich (Desire), Touch of Evil is a stylistic triumph that stands the test of time. This 3-disc special edition features 4K restorations of three versions of the film: the Theatrical version, the Preview version and the Reconstructed version based on Orson Welles’ original vision.
