With this breakthrough film, Federico Fellini launched both himself and his wife and collaborator Giulietta Masina to international stardom, breaking with the neorealism of his early career in favor of a personal, poetic vision of life as a bittersweet carnival. The infinitely expressive Masina registers both childlike wonder and heartbreaking despair as Gelsomina, loyal companion to the traveling strongman Zampanò (Anthony Quinn, in a toweringly physical performance), whose callousness and brutality gradually wear down her gentle spirit. Winner of the very first Academy Award for Best Foreign-Language Film, La strada possesses the purity and timeless resonance of a fable and remains one of cinema’s most exquisitely moving visions of humanity struggling to survive in the face of life’s cruelties. BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION FEATURES 4K digital restoration, undertaken in collaboration with The Film Foundation and the Cineteca di Bologna, with uncompressed monaural soundtrack Alternate English-dubbed soundtrack, featuring the voices of Anthony Quinn and Richard Basehart Audio commentary from 2003 by Peter Bondanella, author of The Cinema of Federico Fellini Introduction from 2003 by filmmaker Martin Scorsese Giulietta Masina: The Power of a Smile, a documentary from 2004 Federico Fellini’s Autobiography, a documentary originally broadcast on Italian television in 2000 Trailer PLUS: An essay by film critic Christina Newland

Vinegaroon law goes like this. Penalty for stealing whiskey: hanging. Penalty for not cutting the judge in on a bank heist: hanging. Penalty for speaking ill of New York actress Lillie Langtry: shooting. Then hanging. Paul Newman joins director John Huston, screenwriter John Milius and a cast of superb sidewinders to turn the real-life Wild West into a tall tale of a Wilder West. Newman tackles with gusto the title role, a self-made man who proclaims himself the law west of the Pecos, writes admiring letters to Langry (Ava Gardner) and rides into gun-blazing glory whooping “For Texas and Miss Langtry!” Prepare yourself for some colorful adventures. Because these bright talents cast long shadows.

Description
Synopsis: Beautifully restored in 4K, Mickey Spillane’s The Long Wait (1954) makes its home video debut from ClassicFlix in a 4K UHD/Blu-ray combo release. Soon after thumbing a ride from a truck driver, Johnny McBride (Anthony Quinn) is badly burned and suffers from complete amnesia when the vehicle he’s riding in blows a tire and goes over an embankment in a fiery blaze. McBride later receives a tip from an acquaintance that a photo of him was placed prominently in the window of a photography studio in a town called Lyncastle, so Johnny immediately leaves for the burg in the hopes that something there will jog his memory. Arriving in Lyncastle, Johnny learns to his regret that the photo in question was taken from a wanted poster and that he’s the prime suspect in the murder of the town’s district attorney—after he allegedly stole $250,000 from the bank at which he was employed. In order to solve the mystery of his identity and the crimes, McBride sets out to find old flame Vera West whom he believes can prove his innocence. As the clues start piling up, Johnny encounters resistance from several townspeople, most notably from mob boss Servo (Gene Evans), who rules Lyncastle with an iron fist. Mickey Spillane is best known for his many Mike Hammer mystery novels, but in 1951 he published the non-Hammer The Long Wait, which soon became the subject of a motion picture from the same company who brought Spillane’s I, the Jury (1953) and Kiss Me, Deadly (1955) to the silver screen. On the cusp of stardom, two-time Academy Award winner Anthony Quinn headlines along with Oscar-winning actor Charles Coburn (The More the Merrier), Gene Evans (The Steel Helmet) and Peggie Castle (I, The Jury). Directed by Victor Saville (Tonight and Every Night) and photographed by Franz Planer (Champion, Criss Cross), The Long Wait cast also features Mary Ellen Kay, Jay Adler, Shirley Patterson, Barry Kelley, Dolores Donlon, James Millican, Bruno VeSota, Frank Marlowe and Lawrence Dobkin. Controversial animator Ralph Bakshi's literal adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's classic fantasy trilogy, The Lord of the Rings, is brought to the screen. An evil sorcerer from a previous era created a magical ring which enables its users to call upon its tremendous powers to rule the world, but it inevitably warps them to evil. It was believed lost, but during a resurgence of magical evil in the world, Bilbo, a simple, plain-spoken hobbit, recovers it from its hiding place. The forces of good give his nephew Frodo the choice to bear the awful burden of the ring to a place where it may be destroyed.

Screen legend Anthony Hopkins (When Eight Bells Toll, The Silence of the Lambs, Nixon) stars with Kristin Scott Thomas (Bitter Moon, The English Patient) and Derek Jacobi (Three Sisters, TV’s I, Claudius) in this compelling World War II drama based on the novel by Graham Greene (The Third Man). Jean-Louis Chavel (Hopkins), a wealthy French lawyer living quietly under Nazi occupation, is seized in a random police raid and thrown into a Paris jail with 29 other innocent men. Marked for the firing squad, he convinces a poor, dying prisoner to take his place by promising his entire estate to the man’s penniless kin. As he falls in love with the dead man’s sister, Thérèse (Scott Thomas), a stranger (Jacobi in an Emmy-winning role) calling himself “Chavel” arrives on their doorstep. Description
The gleam in his eye matches that of his drawn sword. Errol Flynn, the greatest of swashbuckling stars, triumphs again in The Master of Ballantrae as Jamie Durisdeer, a heroic Highlander-turned-pirate in a colorful version of Robert Louis Stevenson's masterwork of gallantry. William Keighley delayed his retirement from moviemaking to guide this lavish adventure shot on location in Scotland, the Cornwall section of England and Sicily, by two-time Oscar winner Jack Cardiff. En garde!
