*This listing is for the standard edition version and does NOT come with a limited edition slipcase!* Vinegar Syndrome specializes in the masterful restoration and distribution of cult, horror, and erotic films from the 1960s-90s. Héctor (Karra Elejalde) lives with his wife Clara (Candela Fernández) in the peaceful Spanish countryside. One day, while relaxing in their backyard, Héctor spies a woman removing her clothes in a nearby forest via his binoculars. Once alone, he travels to her location to find the woman naked and presumably dead. He is attacked by an unknown, bandaged man, causing him to run further into the forest, where he stumbles upon a top-secret research facility, which happens to be home to a time machine. Upon meeting El Joven (played by director Nacho Vigalondo), a scientist in control of the facility and its machine, Héctor travels back in time one hour. Operating against El Joven’s wishes, Héctor leaves the facility, setting off a series of events with increasingly dark consequences. The feature film debut of writer/director Nacho Vigalondo (Colossal, Open Windows), TIMECRIMES is an audacious mash-up of science fiction, horror, and murder mystery. Shot entirely on Super 16mm film by Spanish cinematographer Flavio Martínez Labiano (The Day of the Beast), a frequent collaborator of Álex de la Iglesia, and featuring almost entirely analog effects, TIMECRIMES is a lovingly old-fashioned throwback to the sci-fi films of the 60s and 70s while retaining much of the expected excesses of the genre films of the 2000s. Vinegar Syndrome is proud to present Nacho Vigalondo’s impeccably crafted, often very nasty, journey through time in a brand new 4K restoration of its 35mm DI negative for its world UHD premiere. Bonus Features: 1. 2-disc Set: 4K Ultra HD / Region A Blu-ray 2. 4K UHD presented in Dolby Vision High-Dynamic-Range 3. Newly scanned & restored in 4K from its 35mm original camera negative 4. The all-American obsession with celebrity turns monstrous in this deliciously subversive (and disturbingly prescient) satire of our television-mediated, true-crime-obsessed age. In a career breakthrough, Nicole Kidman delivers a diabolical deconstruction of the girl next door as a local TV weather reporter whose perfectly perky facade belies a murderous heart, as her ruthless pursuit of fame ensnares three disaffected teens in a sordid, tabloid-ready scandal. Deftly deploying shifting perspectives, faux-documentary interviews, and a supporting cast featuring Joaquin Phoenix, Matt Dillon, and Casey Affleck, director Gus Van Sant adds provocative layers of meaning to this darkly funny examination of suburban sociopathy. DIRECTOR-APPROVED BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION FEATURES New 4K digital restoration, approved by director Gus Van Sant and director of photography Eric Alan Edwards, with 5.1 surround DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack Audio commentary featuring Van Sant, Edwards, and editor Curtiss Clayton Deleted scenes Trailer English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing PLUS: An essay by film critic Jessica Kiang

Description
Product Description As fascism spreads, German refugee Georg (Franz Rogowski) flees to Marseille and assumes the identity of the dead writer whose transit papers he is carrying. Living among refugees from around the world, Georg falls for Marie (Paula Beer), a mysterious woman searching for her husband-the man whose identity he has stolen. Adapted from Anna Segher's 1942 novel, TRANSIT shifts the original story to the present, blurring periods to create a timeless exploration of the plight of displaced people. Review Like a remake of CASABLANCA as written by Kafka. --David Ehrlich, IndieWire Extraordinary! Conceptually daring. --Guy Lodge, Variety A stunning work. --Vikram Murthi, Rogerebert.com

Two-disc set includes: Rhine Virgin (La Vierge Du Rhin) (1953)When the Germans invaded in 1940, Strasbourg shipping company head Jacques Ledru (Jean Gabin) went missing... but his wife Geneviève (Elina Labourdette) and his partner Maurice (Renaud Mary) did very well collaborating and managing the business. After a dozen years, he resurfaced under an assumed name, looking for payback-if they don't deal with him first. Gilles Grangier's compelling take on the Phillipe Nord novel co-stars Andrée Clément, Nadia Gray. 82 min. In French with English subtitles. BW/Rtg: NR The Beast Is Loose (Le Fauve Est Lâché) (1959)Gangster-turned-Resistance hero Paul Lamiani (Lino Ventura) was just trying to make a quiet life as a restaurateur when his nation called again. However, they were looking for him to set up old comrade Raymond Maroux (Paul Frankeur) for alleged theft of intel-and he'd have a three-way battle with his government handlers and crooks who also want the documents. Effective spy story, completed by Claude Sautet after the credited Maurice Labro walked off, co-stars Estella Blain, Nadine Alari. AKA: "The Tiger Attacks." 98 min. In French with English subtitles. BW/Rtg: NR Trapped By Fear (Les Distractions) (1960)Paris journalist Paul Frapier (Jean-Paul Belmondo) would have done anything for Laurent Porte (Claude Brasseur), the Algerian War brother-in-arms who saved his life. He'd get to prove it-perhaps to his everlasting regret-when Laurent begs his help going on the run after being involved in the accidental homicide of a cop. Jacques Dupont's scenic, suspenseful drama also stars Alexandra Stewart, Sylva Koscina, Eva Damien, Mireille Darc. 101 min. In French with English subtitles. BW/Rtg: NR The Passion Of Slow Fire (La Mort de Belle) (1961)Geneva professor Stéphane Blanchon (Jean Desailly) shrugged when his overbearing spouse (Monique Mélinand) offered board to pretty American student, and friend's daughter, Belle Shermann (Alexandra Stewart). There was nothing to shrug off the day that Belle was found strangled on the premises-and his protestations of innocence came up against a community's rush to judgment. Edouard Molinaro's take on the Georges Simeon novel, adapted by Jean Anouilh, co-stars Jacques Monod. 91 min. In French with English subtitles. BW/Rtg: NR Standard and Widescreen; Soundtrack: French; Subtitles: English; audio commentary; theatrical trailers.

A feverishly inspired take on Franz Kafka’s novel, Orson Welles’s The Trial casts Anthony Perkins as the bewildered office drone Josef K., whose arrest for an unspecified crime plunges him into a menacing bureaucratic labyrinth of guilt, corruption, and paranoia. Exiled from Hollywood and creatively unchained, Welles poured his ire at the studio system, the blacklist, and all forms of totalitarian oppression into this cinematic statement—a bold, personal film that he himself considered one of his greatest. Dizzying camera angles, expressionistic lighting, increasingly surreal locations—Welles unleashed the full force of his visual brilliance to convey the nightmarish disorientation of a world gone mad. BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION FEATURES New 4K digital restoration, with uncompressed monaural soundtrack New audio commentary featuring film historian Joseph McBride Filming “The Trial,” a 1981 documentary about the film’s production Archival interviews with Welles, actor Jeanne Moreau, and director of photography Edmond Richard Trailer English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing PLUS: An essay by author Jonathan Lethem
