In tow are his spirited daughter (Petula Clark), a love-struck leprechaun (Tommy Steele) and a bigoted Southern senator (Keenan Wynn) transformed by misbegotten magic. The treasurable Burton Lane/E.Y. Harburg score includes "How Are Things in Glocca Morra?," "Look to the Rainbow," "If This Isn't Love" and "Old Devil Moon." Watching it, you'll be in clover. House Bunny 08/21 Blu-ray (Rental)

Description
Product Description When Shelley (Anna Faris) gets kicked out of the mansion, she's a lost little Bunny in the wilds of Beverly Hills until she stumbles upon the sorriest sorority on campus. Now it's up to her to spruce up the girls and heat up the Zeta house before the University shuts them down. Amazon.com "I'm an expert in parties and boys. I'm a Bunny! Men write to me from prison--sometimes in their own blood!" So declares ex-Playboy Bunny Shelley, tossed out of the Mansion by a rival for her advanced age (27--"59 in bunny years," she's told). As played by the utterly fearless and appealing Anna Faris, Shelley becomes an unlikely post-feminist heroine, who finds a great use for her not-too-considerable expertise: being sexy. With nowhere else to live, Shelley finds herself as the house mother for a dying sorority, the Zetas, who are the audience for the rallying cry above. And the slightly misfit sisters, though wary, end up giving Shelley a sisterhood she could never have built back at the Grotto. To help build up the sorority, Shelley gives the young women her own peculiar tutorials in charm school--helping them raise their campus profile and recruit new pledges in the process. "When I'm done, every girl on campus will want to pledge Zeta!" Ignore her at your peril, girls. If the formula is a bit predictable, the pace is lively and the cast, headed by the wide-eyed Faris, is aces. American Idol contestant Katharine McPhee is a natural on camera, as is Rumer Willis, daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis. The supporting cast includes the capable Colin Hanks and Beverly D'Angelo, and a bit too much screen time for the real-life Hugh Hefner, who maybe should have stayed on the set of The Girls Next Door. Still, Faris channels the cheerful, girly determination of Reese Witherspoon's Elle Woods--no surprise since The House Bunny was cowritten by Kirsten Smith, who wrote Legally Blonde. Fans of silly romances, hop to it.--A.T. Hurley Stills from House Bunny (click for larger image)

This collection features three film noir classics. SINGAPORE (1947) – Adventure and romance in the city of intrigue! The irresistible duo of Fred MacMurray (Double Indemnity, The Apartment) and Ava Gardner (The Killers, On the Beach) star in this exotic film noir from director John Brahm (The Lodger, Hangover Square). In pre-war Singapore, Matt Gordon (MacMurray) falls in love with the beautiful Linda Grahame (Gardner), but loses contact with her when the Japanese attack. Five years later, he returns to Singapore to retrieve a fortune in smuggled pearls and accidentally reconnects with Linda, now married to rich planter Van Leyden (Roland Culver, Dead of Night) and suffering from amnesia. Meanwhile, the sinister Mauribus (Thomas Gomez, Key Largo) schemes to steal Matt’s pearls. Richard Haydn (The Emperor Waltz), Spring Byington (I’ll Be Seeing You), Porter Hall (The General Died at Dawn) and Philip Ahn (China) round out the cast of this exciting, romantic noir. JOHNNY STOOL PIGEON (1949) – They cracked the back of the world’s blackest racket! A cop! A dame! A killer! Cult filmmaker William Castle, the macabre mastermind behind House on Haunted Hill, The Tingler, 13 Ghosts and Let’s Kill Uncle, delivers a different kind of shadowy suspense story with Johnny Stool Pigeon. Howard Duff (Woman in Hiding) is San Francisco-based Treasury agent George Morton, who goes undercover to break up a narcotics ring. Dan Duryea (Scarlet Street) is Johnny Evans, a convict in Alcatraz who makes a deal with George, becoming the titular “stool pigeon.” Shelley Winters (Larceny) is the ringleader’s feisty moll who gets involved in the sting. It’s cops versus smugglers in Castle’s hardboiled film noir that co-stars John McIntire (An Act of Murder), Leif Erickson (The Lady Gambles) and Tony Curtis (The Midnight Story) in an early role as a mute killer. THE RAGING TIDE (1951) – Not even the fury of the lashing sea…could match the raging passions that bound them! A San Francisco gangster is rubbed out by rival Bruno Felkin (Richard Conte, Cry of the City), who himself reports the crime to Homicide Lieutenant Kelsey (Stephen McNally, The Lady Gambles) in an alibi scheme which fails. What happens when science loses control is the subject of The Terminal Man, based on a novel by Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park, The Andromeda Strain) and written for the screen and directed by Mike Hodges (Get Carter, Croupier). Computer scientist Harry Benson (George Segal) has experimental brain surgery to end his potentially dangerous seizures. The great Fred Astaire (Blue Skies) puts on his dancing shoes and says Let’s Dance to ebullient Betty Hutton (The Miracle of Morgan’s Creek) in this Technicolor treat from the Golden Age of the Hollywood musical. Hutton plays a war widow who, with the help of her song-and-dance partner Astaire, fights a desperate legal battle to gain custody of her son. Mirthful musical numbers highlight the heartwarming story, including “Oh, Them Dudes,” a wildly comic western spoof that has Astaire swap his top hat and tails for dusty cowboy duds. Then he tops it with “Piano Dance,” dancing on, under, around and in a piano to create one of his most celebrated routines. From the gifted Norman Z. McLeod, director of It’s a Gift, Topper, Road to Rio and The Paleface, Let’s Dance is the most dazzling, toe-tapping musical romp of 1950! Remastered, uncut and beautifully restored, now you can see The Little Rascals like never before! With restorations so glorious, it will be like watching these iconic shorts for the first time! With the departure of Wally Albright from ""Our Gang"" after the filming of Washee Ironee in late 1934, producer Hal Roach temporarily shifted the focus of the series back to George ""Spanky"" McFarland as he had done a year before when Dickie Moore left the ""Lot of Fun"". That all changed with the talent show-themed short Beginner’s Luck (1935) where one competitor wouldn’t win first prize... but he would soon win fame as one of the most popular ""Little Rascals"" performers in the franchise's history. The youngster making his Our Gang debut in Luck was none other than seven-year-old Carl ""Alfalfa"" Switzer, whose comical countenance—including a lard-assisted cowlick, a face smothered in freckles and a singing voice that was the dictionary definition of ""off-key""—was put to use for maximum mirthmaking in such classics as Teacher’s Beau (1935), Sprucin' Up (1935) and The Pinch Singer (1936). Alfalfa's unpleasant warbling was also a highlight of Our Gang Follies of 1936 (1935), the sho...
