Body of Evidence 03/26 Blu-ray (Rental)

Description
*This listing is for the standard edition version and does NOT come with a limited edition slipcase!* Vinegar Syndrome specializes in the masterful restoration and distribution of cult, horror, and erotic films from the 1960s-90s. When the wealthy Andrew Marsh is found dead of a heart attack in bed, the police don't know what to make of the homemade sex-tape he died watching, nor the fact that he was discovered handcuffed. As it comes out that his much younger, BDSM-inclined girlfriend Rebecca Carlson was not only on that sextape, but also in his will for an $8M inheritance, district attorney Robert Garrett goes after her. Accusing Rebecca of having cunningly made her own body the murder weapon, and with public opinion against her, only Carlson's defense attorney, Frank Dulaney, seems to believe that she's innocent. But that's before things get considerably rougher, both in the court and in the uneasy confidence between Rebecca and her chosen counsel. Released at the height of the 1990's erotic thriller boom, BODY OF EVIDENCE took the bold step of casting a pop culture superstar arguably at the peak of her fame, Madonna (Desperately Seeking Susan). Helmed by a master of the complicated character drama, Uli Edel (Christiane F.), with a nail-biting performance from four-time Oscar® nominee Willem Dafoe (To Live and Die in L.A.), this racy noir builds tension and mood to a dizzying climax. It also boasts a stacked supporting cast, including Joe Mantegna (House of Games), Anne Archer (Fatal Attraction), Jürgen Prochnow (In the Mouth of Madness), and Julianne Moore (The Big Lebowski). Vinegar Syndrome is achingly excited to present the UHD debut of this twist-filled thriller in both its unrated director’s and R-rated theatrical cuts, in brand-new, director-approved 4K restorations. Bonus Features: 1. 2-disc Set: 4K Ultra HD / Region A Blu-ray 2. 4K UHD presented in Dolby Vision High-Dynamic-Range 3. Newly scanned & restored in 4K from its 35mm original camera negative 4. When horrifically mutilated bodies start turning up, drained of all their blood and bearing strange radiation burns, the awful truth soon becomes clear - Dr. Adams has been transformed into a blood-drinking mutant and is on the rampage! With the area under quarantine, the pressure is on Captain Kirk to track down and eliminate Dr. Adams before the authorities take drastic action. Description
Andy Milligan clawed his way from the depths of '60s independent cinema straight to the abyss of grindhouse infamy like no other filmmaker in history. 3 DISC COLLECTION INCLUDES 2 THOUGHT-LOST FILMS PLUS THE ACCLAIMED DOCUMENTARY THE DEGENERATE: THE LIFE AND FILMS OF ANDY MILLIGAN WITH 2 RARELY SEEN MOVIE PROJECTS AND 5+ COMBINED HOURS OF SPECIAL FEATURESGutter Auteur: The Lost Legacy of Andy Milligan is a definitive 3-disc tribute to one of cinema's most transgressive, misunderstood, and obsessively fascinating filmmakers. A pioneering outsider who clawed his way from the depths of 1960s underground filmmaking to the grindhouse gutters of 42nd Street, Andy Milligan remains, as Artforum called him, "The Fassbinder of 42nd Street" -- a volatile, visionary auteur whose work defied convention and decency alike. This landmark collection from Severin Films assembles an astonishing array of newly unearthed and restored material, including two features long thought lost: The Degenerates (1967), a post-nuclear nightmare rediscovered in a Brussels vault, and Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me! (1968), a searing psychodrama recovered from an Amsterdam archive. Both have been meticulously restored from their only surviving film elements, resurrecting Milligan's raw, handmade cinema for the first time in decades. Also included is the acclaimed 2025 documentary The Degenerate: The Life and Films of Andy Milligan, hailed by RogerEbert.com as "an eye-opening look into one of the weirder and darker corners of cinema history." Directed by Josh Johnson and Grayson Tyler Johnson, it captures the chaos, creativity, and pain of a filmmaker whose work was as personal as it was perverse. The set goes even deeper with two rarely seen projects -- the early short Compass Rose and 1979's gothic curio House of Seven Belles -- alongside more than five hours of special features that peel back the myth and madness surrounding Milligan's legacy. Among the extensive extras are Team Degenerate, a Tribeca Film Festival Q&A with directors Johnson and Johnson, author Jimmy McDonough (The Ghastly One), and Milligan collaborators Hope Stansbury, Natalie Rogers, Ken Lane, and John Borske; deleted scenes and trailers from The Degenerate; a feature-length audio commentary on The Degenerates with Milligan expert Alex DiSanto; the archival 1975 audio interview between Milligan and author Stéphane Bourgoin; and multiple new interviews with actors, scholars, and historians including Stephen Thrower (Nightmare USA). Other highlights include Two Weeks in Woodstock with actress Laura Cunningham, Magic Time! with Peter Ratray, Dove and Divine with Natalie Rogers, Licentious Lunacy with Alex DiSanto, and Thrower's multi-part analyses of Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me!, House of Seven Belles, and Compass Rose. A delirious collision of archival discovery, academic depth, and grindhouse sleaze, Gutter Auteur is essential viewing for fans of Andy Warhol's Bad, John Waters, and the darkest reaches of American exploitation cinema. As Screen Anarchy notes, Milligan "created a unique oeuvre that defies and defiles common decency at a level that is both shocking and admirable." Morbidly Beautiful called him "one of exploitation's most fascinating figures," and Video Watchblog's Tim Lucas described him as "one of fantastic cinema's most maligned--and malignant--originals." Raw, angry, and unrepentant, Andy Milligan's legacy has finally been given the restoration and respect it deserves. Set in a remote Chilean mining town in 1982, Diego Céspedes' dazzling debut feature follows young Lidia, who grows up within a vibrant queer household led by drag performers and trans women. When a mysterious illness--rumored to spread through the gaze between men--sows fear and hysteria, the community becomes the target of suspicion and violence. Through Lidia's eyes, Céspedes crafts a haunting allegory of love, myth, and prejudice that reimagines the early AIDS era as a queer western with poetic intimacy and desert-dry surrealism. *This listing is for the standard edition version and does NOT come with a limited edition slipcase!* Angela de Marco (Michelle Pfeiffer, Scarface) is married to Frank “Cucumber” de Marco (Alec Baldwin, Miami Blues), who is murdered for having an affair with the mistress of mob boss Tony “The Tiger” Russo (Dean Stockwell, Blue Velvet). Following Frank’s sudden departure, Angela trades her Long Island environs for New York City, catching the eye of Tony, and the FBI, in the process. As Angela begins a casual tryst with undercover FBI agent Mike Downey (Matthew Modine, Full Metal Jacket), the case against Tony continues to mount, resulting in a bullet-ridden climax. Directed by Jonathan Demme (Swimming to Cambodia) and based on an original screenplay by Barry Strugatz and Mark R. Burns (She-Devil), MARRIED TO THE MOB is a deft, often very funny, marriage of crime conventions and romantic comedy. Featuring many Demme collaborators on the crew—including cinematographer Tak Fujimoto (The Silence of the Lambs), editor Craig McKay (Philadelphia), production designer Kristi Zea (Beloved) and a score by David Byrne, of Talking Heads—alongside an incredible supporting cast that includes the likes of Mercedes Ruehl (The Warriors), Oliver Platt (The Ice Harvest), Paul Lazar (Philadelphia) and Joan Cusack (Broadcast News), MARRIED TO THE MOB is a rousing display of eclectic talent in American moviemaking of the 1980s. Cinématographe is proud to present the definitive edition of Jonathan Demme’s genre-bending masterpiece, in a new 4K restoration, marking its world UHD debut.
